The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of a Refrigeration Technician.
The refrigeration technician will install, troubleshoot, and repair refrigeration systems and related equipment, ensuring that all systems operate efficiently and safely. The technician will also be responsible for performing routine inspections, conducting preventative maintenance, and providing emergency repairs when necessary.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Responsibilities
Installation:
- Install new refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and associated components.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines, local codes, and safety standards during installation.
- Connect systems to electrical, gas, and water supply lines.
Maintenance:
- Conduct regular inspections of refrigeration units to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as cleaning coils, replacing filters, and checking refrigerant levels.
- Test and calibrate system controls, thermostats, and sensors.
- Re-gas refrigeration units as needed and ensure refrigerant levels are maintained according to system specifications.
Repair:
- Diagnose and repair issues in refrigeration systems, including leaks, electrical failures, or component breakdowns
- Replace or repair defective parts such as compressors, fans, or control systems.
- Handle refrigerants in compliance with environmental standards.
- Diagnose, service, and repair faults in refrigeration units and cold rooms across various sites.
- Test, replace, and install equipment as required, ensuring all components are functioning properly.
- Clean and test components regularly and perform scheduled servicing of refrigeration systems.
Troubleshooting:
- Identify system malfunctions and provide accurate diagnostics to resolve operational issues
- Use tools and equipment such as gauges, meters, and hand tools to pinpoint problems.
Electrical Work:
- Install, maintain, diagnose faults, and repair electrical wiring problems related to refrigeration systems.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Ensure that all hazardous substances are handled and disposed of appropriately, in line with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations.
- Follow all safety regulations and environmental guidelines related to refrigerant handling, including proper disposal.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with local codes, laws, and industry best practices.
Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs and system operations to clients.
- Ensure timely completion of service orders and communicate with clients about the status of repairs or maintenance.
Teamwork and Professionalism:
- Maintain a professional work ethic by communicating effectively, honestly, and respectfully with supervisors, peers, and operations personnel.
- Perform any other duties as directed by the supervisor.
- The position will be expected to positively impact and contribute to the performance of the company through leadership and individual activity.
Experience & Qualifications
- Craft Certificate-Refrigeration
- Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience.
- Sound understanding and experience of the principles of Refrigeration.
- Hold a current Zambian drivers license
