AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION AND PRODUCTIVITY COORDINATOR

SUMMARY
The Agricultural Production and Productivity Coordinator is a technocrat in crop and livestock production including related agriculture extension methodologies. He or She provides technical advice to program implementation in the area of Regenerative Agriculture; promoting Good Agriculture Practices that will lead to sustainable growth and improved economic performance among targeted SHF. S/he will support program sector implementation through application of industry standards, creation of strategic partnerships with other stakeholders in the sector while aligning iDE’s work with government policies. S/he will lead in the introduction and promotion of innovations, demonstration of technologies and provision of feedback from the field to the Sector Manager and vice versa.
This role is a full-time (contractual) position based in any of the regions where iDE Zambia operates.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibility # 1: Provide Technical advice and guidance on sustainably enhancing productivity and production among SHF in targeted Value Chains.
- Identify technical barriers to improving performance among SHF in targeted value chains i.e., rain fed, Horticulture and small livestock,
- Identify agriculture practices that support effective, resilient and sustainable growth in agriculture entrepreneurship among SHF in targeted value chains.
- Design and promote appropriate extension approach/methodologies that will facilitate and promote effective learning and adoption among SHF with the understanding and considerations of the needs of women and youth SHF’s.
- Develop training materials to support capacity building and knowledge sharing; in –house learning and among partners
- Organize and conduct training programs, workshops, demonstration and research to share knowledge on modern techniques
- Identify innovations that focus on digitization and precision tools for SHF in the sector that will facilitate achievement of targeted results
- Identify and address Gender Equity and Social Inclusion barriers that specifically limit production and productivity for SHF.
Responsibility #2: Support to integrated Program Design, implementation and delivery.
- Support program implementation through identification and ongoing assessment of high value and climate resilient agricultural value chains
- Ensure that implementation of program initiatives is aligned with the sector plan
- Develop implementation plans in collaboration with Sector Manager providing Support in strategy development, activity planning and budgeting
- Provide guidance in accordance with the sector standards and acceptable implementation guidelines
- Support to the promotion of market demand driven production for SHF.
- Ensure collaboration with other coordinators within and outside the sector in supporting cost effective delivery of coordinated and integrated solutions.
- Promote resilient and risk diversified investment and enterprise growth across selected value chains in targeted communities.
- Work to ensure that women and marginalized producers have access to market information and opportunities to participate in value chains.
Responsibility # 3: Enhance partnerships with sector players
- Develop market linkages with private sector for improved inputs and services for the quality service delivery
- Identify key stakeholders for the sector and nurture relationships with critical ones
- Adapt appropriate approaches and initiatives to the sector
- Collaborate with relevant agencies and research institution to access information on new technologies and innovation for the sector
- Participate in workshops, conferences and meetings to enhance technical understanding of the sector
- Create platforms for stakeholders to exchange experiences and best practices on GESI in agriculture value chains.
Responsibility# 4: Provide Feedback and documentation
- Collaborate closely with the MERL unit to track impact within the sector that will ensure data driven decisions and adjustments
- Support the sector manager in developing the parameters for monitoring the progress to ensure proper data analysis and performance tracking with MERL
- Initiate progress reports for Sector managers including program impact emanating from strategy implementation
- Develop and share lessons learnt
- Share best practices to sector members on lessons and best practices in the integration of GESI in productivity and production of value chains.
- Apply lessons learnt to program re-design, implementation and reporting
Primary Qualifications
Education and Experience
- A degree in Agriculture, or equivalent.
- At least 5 years sector work experience working with rural SMEs.
- Knowledge in climate smart agriculture practices
- Knowledge of the stakeholders in the sector and related government policies and guidelines is necessary.
- Excellent understanding of project management and the market-systems development approach to will be added advantage

- Training/coaching/mentoring/ Facilitation skills
- Analytical skills;
- The ability to work independently, think innovatively and strategically and work effectively within a team
- Relevant private sector experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in relevant Office software such as word, excel, and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional networking and relationship-building abilities.
- A valid Driving license (including manual transmission).
