POSITION SUMMARY

Develop, coordinate, and evaluate programs for strategic objective “Employed” in an efficient and effective way, in order to implement relevant training programs for youth and create relationships with companies and job placement centers that generate opportunities for job placement.

POSITION OBJECTIVES

  1. Responsible for ensuring the implementation of job readiness programs.
  2. Create relationships with companies, chambers of commerce, employment agencies, and relevant government entities to create job opportunities for beneficiaries.
  3. Increase employability indicators for youth beneficiaries.

SCOPE

Reports to: Programs Manager.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  1. Draft the annual work plan using CI’s virtual platform. Finalize this plan according to feedback received.
  2. Execute the Employed Program processes, including promoting the program in the community; registering participants, carrying out planned activities and coaching to provide participants with effective guidance. This is to ensure that participating youth increase their employability skills, get introduced to and experience the work environment, and are ultimately placed in a job.
  3. Establish contact with outside organizations to develop a placement system for internships and employment for all beneficiaries of the employability programs.
  4. Facilitate activities and investigations related to the Employability and Entrepreneurship Potential Assessment (EEPA-Market Study) in accordance with the program guidelines
  5. Create a report on the EEPA results to be sent to CIKC.
  6. In consultation with the team and the Programs Manager, define the trades that will be offered for study to youth applicants (based on the EEPA report).
  7. Identify the entities that will be offering training to youth applicants for each of the trades identified, and establish official agreements with them.
  8. Along with Field Officers, coordinate life skill classes for all students.
  9. Maintain effective documentation of the main indicators of the program activities, including the Web Portal.
  10. Create and review quarterly, mid and end-year reports on program implementation and identify improvements.
  11. Administer the program database in every phase.
  12. Identify and make available in the Web Portal the links of most interest/value for youth users.
  13. Ensure that the Web Portal is working properly, and that youth have access to it.
  14. Coordinate any issue related to the program management and financing.
  15. Serve as a link between the agency and any individual interested in seeking support for the SO Employed programs.
  16. Participate in team meetings and support the agency’s projects.
  17. Notify the Programs Manager of any special need, problem or other important issue concerning the implementation of the program activities.
  18. Make purchase requests for goods and services needed for the program activities.

Strategic Relationships:

  1. Develop strategic relationships with educational entities, business persons or other entities in the production sector.
  2.  Coordinate the development of activities in an inter-institutional fashion.

Other

Support implementation of all activities related to their department that is required or assigned. In case of an emergency situation, it is expected that the person in this position be flexible and willing to work outside of the responsibilities included in this job description. It is expected that this individual would be capable of adapting to the tasks and schedules required according to the needs.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Disciplines such as: International Relations, Social Work, Economics or Psychology. Specialty in Cooperation or Institutional Relationships is preferable.

Skills:

  • Drafting and submitting reports and projects
  • Poise and self-confidence to promote the programs and establish effective relationships with potential employers, business associations, chambers of commerce and relevant government agencies
  • Problem solving and negotiation

Experience: A minimum of three years of professional experience in a related position, after receiving undergraduate degree.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of social programs and social development as they relate to youth and employability.
  • Extensive knowledge of the local Formal and Vocational Education System.
  • Development of strategies, programs and community mobilizations.
  • Languages: Fluency in local language required. High level of written and conversational English.
  • Proficiency with IT tools Office and Windows (Excel, Word, Power Point), intermediate level.
  • Use of equipment: computer, telephone, photo camera and video beam.

Highly desirable skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to create clear, concise and grammatically correct reports.
  • Specialization in a related field

  • Willingness to travel.
