Background of Kasanka Trust

Kasanka Trust Ltd. (KTL) manages Kasanka National Park (KNP) in partnership with the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW). KTLs work includes resource protection, community development, environmental education, and tourism.

Kasanka Trust Limited (KTL) has obtained a substantial grant from the French government as well as a number of smaller grants from various sources and revenues. With the increasing number and volume of transactions, the Trust must ensure that procurement is carried out timely and in accordance to best practice of fair and equitable competition as well as in full respect to the Government of Zambia and donor’s procedure, specifically the French Agency for Development.

Organisation structure and management

The KTL headquarters are located within KNP, Chitambo District, Central Province. The Procurement Officer will report to the General Manager, will be based in Lusaka, but will travel frequently to the headquarters in Kasanka National Park.

Core Responsibilities

The Procurement Officer shall be responsible for procuring goods, works and services for activities related to the implementation of the Trust’s Strategic Plan. For more information on the specific ToR, please contact [email protected].

Required Qualifications and Experience

1) Degree: A high school plus two-year degree in a technical field such as engineering, management, economics, etc.

2) Experience: At least 3 years’ experience as procurement officer or assistant in a project funded by an external donor where donor procurement procedures were mandatory;

3) IT and software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

4) Language(s): English (a second language will be seen favourably)

5) Skills. Independent and proactive; good culture of communication; very organized.

Optional but Desired Qualifications and Experience

1) Experience in a rural development or conservation context;

2) Knowledge of suppliers of goods and services in Zambia and, specifically, in the Serenje area.

Important Additional Requirements

1) Willingness to travel once a month to the park and use local transport

2) Drivers license.
