1. SURVEYOR X 1-KALUMBILA SITE
Position Description
This position reports to the Senior Surveyor. Successful candidate will be responsible for the below duties.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out daily pickups for volume evaluation.
- Carry out OGL/TOPO surveys in every new mining area prior to excavations.
- Ensure OGL/TOPO is surveyed at least minimum 50m beyond the design boundaries.
- Ensure pit floor levels are monitored and controlled to the required elevations/RL.
- Ensure Temporal Benchmark (TBM’s) is in place at the mining floor and at the dumping sites.
- Responsible for the safe use and storage of all survey equipment.
- Responsible for maintenance/housekeeping of all survey equipment.
- Responsible for charging Survey Equipment batteries.
- Responsible for staking out pit toes, crests, ramps and other jobs assigned by your supervisor.
- Ensure all staked out survey pegs have necessary information on them and use appropriate Color descriptions.
- Ensure quality control during batter works and critical excavation works.
- Responsible for monitoring the Excavator operator regarding pit limits and floor grades.
- Support an effective Health and Safety Management System, including completion of risk assessments, hazard identification, tool box talks, completion of JSA where appropriate.
- Inspection of work areas to ensure that the required safety and operational standards for site are met and take appropriate action when required.
- Ensure that the personnel protective equipment(PPE) necessary for the operations is utilized and put on correctly and in right places at all times.
- Ensuring that speed limits and road signs in place are observed to reduce the risk, and that all reasonable measures are implemented to avoid accidents.
- Ensuring that FLRA and PTO’s are done in your area of operations.
- Ensuring that near misses, hazards, accidents and unsafe acts and conditions are brought to your attention as a supervisor in charge of the area.
- Ensuring that you are in attendance of incident investigation and its required closers are done without any delays.
- Carry out any activities as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
- Diploma in Surveying or related field from a recognized university.
- Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambian.
- Minimum two (2) years mining experience in mining industry surveying.
- Strong understanding of mining regulations and safety standards
- The ability to work in remote and challenging environments
- A proactive attitude towards continuous learning.
- You should also have strong analytical and communication skills and be aware of safety and environmental issues.
