We invite applications from suitably qualified and innovative individuals to take up the position of Laboratory Analyst to be based in Kitwe.

The successful candidate will be required to perform a range of laboratory analytical activities including oil testing and sampling and routine testing of plant equipment to facilitate condition based maintenance. This role will be reporting to the Senior Manager – System Performance and Asset Management

Key Accountabilities

  • Carry out routine testing of electrical equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers and batteries to determine maintenance requirements.
  • Perform correct sampling procedures and data acquisition on all electrical equipment to avoid variation in test results.
  • Maintain all laboratory equipment in optimal and safe operating condition by strictly adhering to respective manufactures’ recommendations and achieve maximum availability of required reagents.
  • Adhere to applicable laboratory protocols at all times to maintain high standards and credibility.
  • Undertake post-maintenance inspection and analysis of equipment so as to establish the operating state of such equipment and closeout work orders.
  • Participate in all installations, commissioning and repair of laboratory equipment.
  • Update the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CCMS) with test results, associated costs and prescribed system inputs.
  • Contribute to budgetary control by ensuring that spend on departmental activities is within the prescribed budget and support all opportunities for improved cost management.
  • Carry out all work tasks and assignments in strict compliance with applicable HSE polices and standards by participating in HSE meetings and by completing risk assessments and HSE incident reports.
  • Demonstrate behavior in line with CEC values, standards and expectations of professional workplace.
  • Participate as an effective team member in working collaboratively with leaders, peers and relevant others to achieve business objectives.

To be successful in this role, you will be required to have:

  • Grade 12 School Certificate
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role in an electrical maintenance environment.
