JOB OPPORTUNITIES

The Southern Provincial Health Office under the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Project through a Cooperative Agreement (CoAg) with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is seeking for eligible, self-motivated and qualified applicants for the positions listed below for the various levels (Provincial, District, Facility and Community)

(A) PROVINCIAL LEVEL

JOB TITLE: LABORATORY COORDINATOR (01 POSITION)

Purpose: Responsible for the coordination of Laboratory services including courier of samples from the facilities to the testing sites and result return to facilities

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the Provision of quality Laboratory HIV and TB Testing Services using medical technologies in use as prescribed in the current national testing profile in the province
  • Ensure that HIV testers in the Province are certified according to the national certification program;
  • Ensure that all sites in the province are enrolled and are participating and passing the national Proficiency Testing (PT) Program for all HIV/TB Laboratory (RT, CD4, TB, VL, PCR);
  • Undertakes routine Internal/External Quality Assurance programs for all HIV Laboratory Services in the Province
  • Spearheads Laboratory Quality Management Systems (QMS) activities towards regional/international accreditation
  • Ensures accurate reporting of Laboratory commodities to ensure that there are no stock outs;
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisors in line with the jobholder’s ability and qualifications.
  • Participates in all technical reviews in the Province and provides accurate information for decision making

Qualifications:

  • Grade Twelve (12) Certificate with Five (5) O’ Levels
  • Degree in Biomedical Sciences
  • At least two years of relevant work experience at supervisory level in Lab services
  • Experience with recording, reporting and other monitoring and evaluation activities
  • Computer literate, with high competency in using Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience in the Logistics Management Information System (LMIS)
