Our client, INDENI ENERGY COMPANY Limited, a member of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) seeks to employ a competent and qualified Manager Procurement & Supply.

Main Purpose of Job:
To plan, implement and control Purchasing & Supply function to ensure timely procurement of spares, materials, equipment and services from the most competitive and reliable sources to sustain continuous company operations, and ensure economic management and control of material store in accordance with established budget and programs.

Duties
Main Responsibilities:

Planning and Forecasting:
Analyze consumption patterns of spares and materials etc, forecast demand in relation to the Company’s operation and Programs in order to put in place measures to forestall stock outs.

Sourcing of Equipment, Materials:
Procure the required spares, materials, capital equipment, investment items etc. to meet operational needs of the Company while ensuring acceptable suppliers’ prices, quality of goods and services as well as terms of supply.

Supplier Evaluation/Appraisal:
Advise the Chief Executive of the most suitable supplier (through the evaluation of tender documents) meeting supply contract specifications set out by the Company.

Import documentation:
Procure import licenses, letters of credit, foreign exchange etc. through consultation with appropriate Government agencies/institutions to facilitate importation of materials, equipment and spares from abroad.

Shipping/Transportation Logistics:
Maintain liaison with suppliers and shipping agents locally and abroad on issues pertaining to commodity prices, equipment design/specifications and mode of transportation from manufacturer to INDENI to ensure maximum efficiency and economy.

Disposal of Redundant Goods:
Decide disposing surplus/redundant goods & assets through established channels to contribute to the Company’s cash position.

Warehousing Management:
Inspect imported goods and manage bonded warehouse as per Customs and Excise Regulations.

Insurance Management:
Negotiate insurance claims for damaged goods while in transit to ensure protection of the Company’s interest in line with the terms of contract.

Inventory Management:
Review Procurement and supply systems to ensure stock items do not reach critical levels nor become far in excess of demand.

Supply Management:
Control supply of materials to users in accordance with standing procedures.

Accounting for Resources:
Account for goods/materials stocked and distributed through periodical reports.

Qualifications and Experience:
Full Grade 12 Certificate with 5 ‘O’ Levels

Degree in Procurement / Purchasing and Supply, MBA added advantage.

10 years’ experience 5 of which should be at senior level within the energy sector

Knowledge of tender procedures, customs clearance regulations, import regulations, etc.

Competencies:
Managerial competencies in planning, implementation of procurement and supply functions to meet requirements of the Company operations.

Need for effective co-ordination with Manager – Finance for funds, Manager-Planning and Commodities Trading (Production Plan), SHEQ and (For capital items) and Manager-Operations and Engineering for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance programmes/stock levels.

Should be effective in both written and oral/human relations skills to expedite orders, deal with customs clearance staff, Import and Export Official. As Manager should provide leadership to its own subordinate staff and negotiate terms with suppliers.

Analytical/ Problem Solving effectiveness in monitoring and procurement system to avoid stock outs, build-up of redundant stocks, etc. Should procure from cheapest sources without compromising on quality and assist with the prioritisation of spares procurement to keep production going, while ensuring maximum safety of personnel.

Physical Skills in application of Computer Software to ensure effective and efficient management of Procurement function. Must have Driving license.

Ability to use commercial mathematics to compile statistical monthly reports, evaluate/check figures related to pricing and monitoring stock consumption levels.
