Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the North Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of Learning and Development Superintendent

Role Summary

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for the Administration of Talent Management initiatives, Training and Development of employees in the Organization. Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Site Training programs
  • Coordinate and Evaluate On-Site Training and External Training as per Training plan
  • Coordination of Management Development programs
  • Coordinate Employee Performance Management process
  • Analyzing and monthly reporting on Training and Employee Development
  • Coordination of Site Succession planning activities with Heads of Departments
  • Assess and optimize development plans
  • Facilitate Career Fairs through Universities and Schools
  • Drive Women in Mining Initiatives
  • Analyze employee training needs and conduct skills  audits and competency Mapping
  • Drive site Graduate programs
  • Coordinate employee exchange programs
  • Drive Barrick Operator Competency (BOE) Initiatives and outcomes
  • Prepare Learning and Development Budget and ensure prudent utilization of resources within approved budget
  • Drive HR compliance to Safety and Environmental Objectives
  • Ensure compliance with requirements of statutory bodies that affect the operation of site Learning  and Development section

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent
  • Member of Zambia Institute of Human Resources Management (ZIHRIM)
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a Talent Management role, preferably in the Mining Industry
  • Experience in Performance Management, Succession planning and Employee Development
  • Demonstrated analytical and reporting skills
  • Good Interpersonal skills with ability to interact with people at all levels
  • Familiar with standard concepts, systems, practices and procedures within the Human Resources field (including Performance Management and Employee Development)
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
