KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fabrication and Welding:
- Fabricate, assemble, and weld metal components for mining machinery, conveyors, pipelines, and structural frameworks.
- Use various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding, to complete repair and fabrication tasks to a high standard.
Maintenance and Repair:
- Conduct repairs on metal components of mining equipment, including cracks, breaks, and worn-out parts in excavators, haul trucks, crushers, and other heavy machinery.
- Install new metal components and modify existing structures as needed to maintain operational efficiency.
Interpretation of Blueprints and Technical Drawings:
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to plan fabrication and welding projects.
- Ensure that all work aligns with technical and safety standards for durability and performance.
Cutting and Shaping Metal:
- Operate cutting torches, plasma cutters, and other tools to cut and shape metal pieces according to specifications.
- Measure, cut, and fit metal components with precision for accurate assembly.
Inspection and Quality Control:
- Inspect fabricated components and completed welds to ensure they meet the required standards for safety, quality, and performance.
- Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) on welds to ensure structural integrity.
Safety Compliance:
- Follow strict safety guidelines, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to mining safety regulations during welding and fabrication tasks.
- Ensure all welding and boilermaking work complies with company policies and safety regulations.
Collaboration with Maintenance Teams:
- Work closely with mechanics, engineers, and other maintenance staff to coordinate repair and installation work on equipment.
- Provide technical support and expertise during maintenance and shutdown periods.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain records of welding repairs, fabrication projects, and maintenance activities.
- Report equipment performance and recommend modifications or improvements to ensure continuous operation
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Trade Certification as a Boilermaker, Welder or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Boilermaker-Welder in the mining or heavy industrial sector.
- Proficiency in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, arc welding) and metal fabrication tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of safety standards and procedures related to welding and boilermaking.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
