Child and Community Advisor (CCA)

About life trust Zambia mission:

Life Trust is a Christian ministry based in Kabwe. We have been committed to providing quality education for vulnerable children for over 20 years to transform their families and the community. Life Trust School Waya, together with our Empowerment Campus, is a centre of learning and living together, especially for the benefit of vulnerable children in the Waya compound.

THE JOB

• Assisting vulnerable children
• Giving mental and spiritual guidance: Building a strong relationship with the pupils. Getting to know the child and their family background, supporting them through counseling.
• Monitoring learning progress: Encouraging guardians to send pupils to school and pupils to attend classes regularly. Working together with the teachers, checking if any pupil needs some extra attention, such as tuitions.
• Monitoring the health condition of pupils: Awareness of any abuse, assistance with doctor’s appointments, help with medical treatments, education for HIV/AIDS, rape and the importance of hygiene.
• Organizing and planning of work schedules: Keeping work records, writing reports that explain and describe situations and problems of the pupils, organisation and participation of group case studies. Keeping a current overview of children the CCA is responsible for. Plan house visits with the guardians.
• Being approachable for both guardians and children

THE APPLICANT SHOULD

• Have a heart for children
• Be well organized, able to write reports und documentations, able to prepare case studies
• Be willing to attend trainings and workshops
• Work with Life Trust as an NGO: We expect you being trustworthy and faithful. Life Trust is a Christian Non-Profit-Organization based in Kabwe, your job as a Child and Community Advisor is not simply work, but it is a being part of a ministry.
• Be willing to work in a multi-cultural team
• Have a full Grade 12 certificate
• Be Fluent in English

PLEASE NOTE: This job is only for applicants that live within Kabwe or are able to relocate here permanently quickly. The work location is Waya compound in Kabwe. (Please indicate where you live currently.)
This is a community based project that involves daily home visits with the families. It is not a “desk job”, but hands on work.
