Lubambe Copper Mine Limited

Lubambe Copper Mine Limited (LCML) owns and operates the Lubambe underground Copper Mine located in Chililabombwe District of the Copperbelt Province in Zambia. The Mine which commenced operations in 2012 is situated approximately 468 kilometres North of the Capital City of Lusaka, 152 Kilometres from Ndola and approximately 40 Kilometres from Chingola.
Lubambe Copper Mine sits on an area of approximately 58.1 square kilometres and comprises an existing underground mine, characterised by two distinct limbs (the East and South Limbs) and a processing Plant with a capacity to process up to 2.4 million tonnes per annum.

LCML seeks to employ an experienced and qualified individual in the following position:

SENIOR RESOURCE GEOLOGIST (X1)

This position reports to the Geology Superintendent.

Core Purpose of the Position

To be responsible for and oversee all Lubambe Copper mine Mineral Resource estimation and evaluation needs.

Key Performance Areas/Indicators (KPA/Is):

  • Liase with the Senior Geologist Production on all aspects of Diamond drilling at Lubambe Mine Site for regular wireframe updates.
  • Planning of underground exploration drill holes to increase drill hole data in low confidence resource categories and increase the Mineral Resources for the mine.
  • Ensure the geological (acQuire) database is updated always.
  • Quarterly updating of the Life of mine Mineral Resource wireframe in Datamine or Leapfrog software.
  • Quarterly updating of the Hang wall and Footwall wireframe dilution skins.
  • Generate composited drill hole files coded by Ore Zone for updating mineral resources.
  • Understanding the Lubambe Copper Mine Limited deposit behaviour through Statistical and Geostatistical analysis.
  • Updating of wireframe showing geological confidence to aid in Mineral Resource classification.
  • Build and update Mineral Resource models (LoM and Grade control models).
  • Report stope and development grades from the block model as required by Mine Planning for monthly production plans.
  • Manage the weekly and monthly stope reconciliation reports by comparing block model grade and processing plant milled grades.

Academic Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mineral Science (Geology) or equivalent.
  • Competence certificate in Mineral Resource estimation and geological modelling will be added advantage.
  • Member of Geoscience professional body.
  • Minimum of five Years experience in Mineral Resource estimation or similar role in underground or open cast mining.
  • Practical experience in use of application software such as Datamine, leapfrog, Vulcan and or Surpac.
  • Practical experience in use of Excel & other related packages to manipulate data.
  • Practical experience in use of Acquire or any other related database packages.
