The University College is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to play an important role in the shaping of the future development in the School of Health and Applied Sciences as follows:

1.     Nursing Lecturer X 2 (Full-Time)

2.     Nursing Lecturer X 2 (Part-Time)

3.     Clinical Instructor/ Preceptor X 1 (Full-Time)

4.     Health Care Management X 3 (Part-Time)

5.     Pharmacy Management X 3  (Part-Time)

Candidate should be highly motivated and passionate about making a mark in the education sector in respect to the field of Nursing and Health Education.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Teaching fundamental enrolled students in Registered Nursing and Health Programmes, Manage and undertake the administration of the programmes, Designing, developing and participating in students training.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develops strategies to teach course content for the entire term/semester including instructional objectives, assignments, textbooks, weight of grades and delivery methods.

2. Develops and provides to students, approved University syllabi and modules that follow a template established by the University, which includes terminal course objectives.

3. Organizes, prepares and regularly revises and updates all course materials.

4. Incorporates higher-level learning (i.e. application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation) by giving students opportunities to develop information literacy and problem-solving skills.

5. Adheres to University College policies regarding disciplinary problems, including plagiarism or cheating.

6. Models exceptional verbal and written communication.

7. Organizes and sequences topics in a logical progression and paces the delivery to meet the needs of the class.

8. Utilizes educational technology (such as PowerPoint, remote access to syllabi and grades, classroom projection systems, online courses or course components with interactive capabilities) to enhance learning.

9. Establishes positive classroom relationships with students by being actively engaged in the classroom. Provides opportunities for in-class discussions and questions and displays enthusiasm about the students, the subject matter, and the learning process.

10. Treats students’ academic needs seriously by being accessible for academic consultation before or after class, via phone or e-mail.

11. Creates an interactive classroom environment.

12. Works with other staff and partners, and other stakeholders in the provision of conducive learning experiences for students in the classroom.

13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPIRIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Degree in Nursing or Equivalent

A minimum of 5 (Years) years’ experience work in a medical institution (ward).

Member of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ) or Relevant Professional Body

College-level nursing teaching experience with relevant practical industry nursing experience.

Proficiency in computer application systems.

Unquestionable professional integrity, stature and abilities.

Key Qualities and skills:

Self-motivated and resourceful with strong intellectual ability.
Ability to research and create new knowledge.
Should be a goal-getter and a team player.
Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
Must be articulate and have strong interpersonal skills.
High level of planning and organizing skills.
Must be familiar with Moodle e-learning platform or other e-learning platforms.
Passionate about teaching and research.
