Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the North Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of Maintenance Coordinator – PM

Role Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent – Ancillary, you will be responsible for the reliability and availability of the mobile maintenance team performance by building assessing and continuously improving the equipment availability. Identify, develop and implement improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and effectiveness of mobile maintenance and operations processes: Your duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities

  • Monitor condition of equipment.
  • Carry out routine and statutory inspections.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Carry out planned maintenance and breakdown repairs on mining fleet.
  • Carry out planned maintenance and breakdown repairs on ancillary fleet.
  • Carry out planned maintenance and breakdown repairs on project and small truck fleet.
  • Measure and report overall maintenance performance
  • Actively promote full cooperation between the maintenance and mining operation.
  • Take full responsibility and accountability for the performance of the mobile maintenance team.
  • Assist in preparation and control of cost budgets for mobile maintenance teams.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of maintenance processes and systems.
  • Measure and report overall equipment and infrastructure performance.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Work with the maintenance planners accurately inputing schedules and monitoring equipment health.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Maintenance and Engineering/projects
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia or meets the requirements to be registered.
  • Extensive experience in mobile maintenance engineering.
  • Statutory compliant awareness – Mining Regulation and international standards
  • Experience in interpretation and work with engineering drawings (mechanical)
  • Sound knowledge in condition monitoring techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels, confident communicator with senior management, legal entities and external stakeholders.
