Job description:

Overall Job Purpose

To manage and develop the Engineering Team for the safe and cost-effective running of the Process Plant and associated services, through clearly defined strategies and objectives regarding fixed plant, equipment & facilities maintenance.

Specific Job Responsibility

Oversee the management, development and motivation of the Process Engineering teams.
Provide Engineering input in to the construction of facilities including reviews of build quality, plus completion and handover documentation.
Review any spares orders made to date, identify and correct shortfalls.
Develop, implement and optimise maintenance systems.
Assist with identification, recruitment and training of expatriate and local Zambian engineering and maintenance personnel.
Oversee the commissioning of any relevant facilities, along with the Project and Operations teams.
Develop, implement and manage operating and capital maintenance budgets.
Plan and execute routine Plant maintenance.
Document and review the overall Engineering strategy on an annual basis to ensure that it is aligned with the business plan.
Ensure strict adherence to maintenance work and management principles (percent planned work, adherence to schedule, number of breakdowns, number of proactive requests) to obtain maximum plant availability/reliability at minimum maintenance cost per unit produced.
Manage the Engineering Assets to ensure that they produce at their designed capacity and are periodically refurbished to their original condition to ensure optimal life – through robust condition monitoring systems and processes.
Ensure strict adherence to the relevant engineering standards, specifications and legal compliance.
Manage Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence.
Foster a climate of continuous improvement.
Manage the Departmental costs.
Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status.
Ensure an enabling climate/culture.
Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover.
Manage performance against set targets and competencies.
Ensure performance results and implemented as per plan.
Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent.
Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime,
misconduct, etc.).
Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels.
Put systems and controls in place that will ensure that the site is maintained:
At specified performance and within prescribed technical & legal requirements, That will permit a safe and environmentally acceptable operation, and To meet the required production-rated capacity at minimum life cycle costs

Job Specific Competencies

Trident consists of the high throughput Sentinel (62 Mtpa) Copper and Enterprise (4.6 mtpa) Nickel, Concentrator Process Plants.  The Engineering Manager must possess full working knowledge of the plant machinery.  The main equipment will be:

4 in-pit crushers feeding through secondary crushing and on to the milling circuit.
2 x 12.2m SAG mills with 28 MW drives
2 x 8.5m Ball mills with 22 MW drives
Flotation circuit including + 6,200 cubic meter flotation cells
Thickening and concentrate filtration
Copper concentrate storage & management
Central workshop facilities

Experience Required to Perform in This job

At least 15 years relevant technical experience; including 5 years senior management experience.
Previous experience in Copper/Nickel process plants will be beneficial.
Bachelor degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering preferred.
People management and collaboration skills.
Work planning, prioritization and long term goal setting.

Engineering Degree or equivalent Technical Qualification
