Job Purpose

To assist in planning initiatives aimed at optimizing land governance frameworks and contribute to the organization’s mission of leveraging technology and innovative approaches to empower communities and enhance land rights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works with Senior City Planner GIS Engineer when using techniques to manipulate, extract, locate and analyse geographic data. Analysis includes buffering, clipping, and exploring the relationships between map features within Various Demarcation Areas;
  • Delivers parcel boundaries and provides vectorization for demarcation areas illustrated by Medici Land Governance Ltd, and National Land Titling Centre (NLTC) under the supervision of MLG Zambia Lead Engineer;
  • Applies planning standards on pre-vectorized areas as guided by the MLG Zambia Planning Lead and following simplified local plan standards;
  • Be available to work in a fast-past environment and churn vectorization for areas quick and efficiently clean data as it comes in from field operations to ensure that all collected data is ready to be sent for titling;
  • Responsible for identifying errors made in the field and make corrections as soon as possible as directed by field managers;
  • Supports the GIS functionality of National Land Titling System (NLTS) and assist the GIS Engineer on the maintenance and development of NLTS;
  • Supports the Planning Lead with the generation, printing and submission of layout plans, land-use maps and any other diagrams and/or documents required by the city planning authority for the approval of township plans;
  • Assists in identifying and proposing solutions for boundary disputes in demarcation areas;
  • Assists in providing information to would-be landowners regarding their land if and when required as guided by MLG management;
  • Proactively engages with clients through follow-up communications and community engagements.
  • Additionally, assists in providing information to prospective landowners about their land when needed, as directed by MLG management.
  • Perform any other assigned duties when required

Minimum Qualification and Experience

  • Grade 12 Certificate with 5 O with credit or better in Mathematics and English
  • Bachelors Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Geography, Environmental Studies or related field
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in related roles
