JOB POSTING N0: 1

JOB POSITION: RETAIL CASHIERS

DEPARTMENT: SALES

REPORTS TO: BUTCHERY/ OUTLET MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY:

You will be responsible for processing cash, debit, and credit and check transactions using a cash register or other point-of-sale system in Butchery.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The RETAIL CASHIER will be responsible and accountable to the Butchery or Outlet Manager for performance in the following areas:

  • Their duties include balancing the cash register, making change, recording purchases, processing returns and scanning items for sale.
  • Process sales transactions
  • Calculate the cost of products or services
  • Accept payments
  • Accountable for the accuracy in reconciling sales receipts
  • Calculate and return change when required by the payment method
  • Maintain adequate change denominations in the cash drawer and request additional change
  • Answer customer questions about products or services
  • Reconcile cash drawers and sales receipts
  • Report issues with equipment
  • Ensure personal hygiene and follow health and safety procedures
  • Maintain Company standards and merchandise.
  • You will be responsible for the cleanliness of the Butchery or Outlet

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:

  • Minimum of a Full Grade 12 certificate, Basic Accounting Qualification, Front Office Operations, meat cutting and or a minimum of 2 years’ work experience in the meat Processing Industry or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform job duties may be considered

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years of retail experience.
  • Previous cashiering experience in a retail environment with traceable references

JOB POSTING N0:2

JOB POSITION: BUTCHERY ASSISTANT

DEPARTMENT: SALES

REPORTS TO: RETAIL CASHIER

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Pack meat into retail or bulk packaging for further sells on to customers
  • Operate the pricing scale and price meat products
  • Merchandising of retail meat cuts in butchery cabinets
  • Ensure that meat that has been cut or processed is fresh and well packed
  • Checking sell-buy dates, bloody and broken packs on butchery cabinet shelves
  • To assist in receiving/offloading merchandise meant for the butchery/outlet;
  • Assist with stock rotation and storage management of meat and meat related items
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety and hygiene policies
  • Manage in the day to day cleaning of production areas, fridges freezers and store rooms
  • Maintain good/safe personal hygiene while working/preparing meat and meat related items
  • Assist all customers with their requirements
  • Ensure that then outlet is clean at all times

JOB POSITION: BLOCK MAN

DEPARTMENT: BUTCHERY

REPORTS TO: RETAIL CASHIER/ BUTCHERY MANAGER

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Merchandising of retail meat cuts in butchery cabinets
  • Ensure that meat that has been cut or processed is fresh and well packed
  • Checking sell-buy dates, bloody and broken packs on butchery cabinet shelves
  • To assist in receiving/offloading merchandise meant for the butchery/outlet;
  • Manage in the day to day cleaning of production areas, fridges freezers and store rooms
  • Maintain good/safe personal hygiene while working/preparing meat and meat related items
  • Assist all customers with their requirements
  • Prepare special cuts of meat ordered by customers.
  • Cut, trim, bone, tie, and grind meats, such as beef, pork, poultry, and fish, to prepare in cooking form.
  • Prepare and place meat cuts and products in display counter to appear attractive and catch the shopper’s eye.
  • Wrap, weigh, label, and price cuts of meat.
  • Receive, inspect, and store meat upon delivery to ensure meat quality.
  • Shape, lace, and tie roasts, using boning knife, skewer, and twine
  • Estimate requirements and order or requisition meat supplies to maintain inventories.
  • Supervise other butchers or meat cutters.
  • Record quantity of meat received and issued to cooks or keep records of meat sales.
  • Cure, smoke, tenderize, and preserve meat.
  • Negotiate with representatives from supply companies to determine order details.
  • Total sales, and collect money from customers.
