ME Long Teng Grinding Media Zambia LTD

ME Longteng is a leading manufacturer of high quality grinding media balls for the worldwide mining industry. It is a joint venture between ME Elecmetal (a world-renowned supplier of milling solutions from Santiago Chile) and Long Teng Special Steel Co., Ltd (a premium steel products manufacturer based in Jiangsu China). The Company is currently in the process of establishing its subsidiary in Zambia and constructing a world-class forged steel grinding media production plant in Kalumbila in North Western Province of Zambia. The plant is expected to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2018. The company is now looking to recruit the following positions to be based in Kalumbila in 2018;

HSE Supervisor

Reporting to the Operations & Maintenance Manager, the HSE supervisor is responsible for improving operational activities while adhering to governmental environmental protection rules and policies. The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Developing routine HSE regulatory documents and organize company’s HSE personnel with company projects.
  • Preparing necessary HSE reports.
  • Planning and Implementing policies for monitoring environment.
  • Supporting operation team in all aspects of safety, health and environment issues.
  • Maintaining HSE logs and documents.
  • Participating in detailed incident investigation.
  • Organizing and developing relevant HSE training.
  • To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering with knowledge of ISO9001, ISO14001 and other relevant standards, good knowledge of MS excel and familiar with new IT tools. You must also have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Environmental or safety discipline is preferred.

Shift Manager

Reporting to the Production & Maintenance Manager, the Shift Manager is responsible for staff safety on shift and production stability. The main responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Safety, environmental protection, site management and occupational health issues of employees.
  • Issuing production notice according to production plan of production department. Completing production as planned with required quality and quantity.
  • Conducting regular production meeting. Arranging workshop production. Taking charge of daily management and training of workshop staff to continuously improve staff’s comprehension of work.
  • Scheduling staff and shift rotation.
  • Making sure all reports on production and raw material are made in manner of timeliness and fidelity.
  • Managing maintenance of workshop, water, electricity, gas, material loss and taking energy saving and emission reduction into daily responsibility.
  • To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of a degree in mechanical and electrical integration or related field with minimum 3 years in similar role or production management, knowledge of ERP and strong communication and interpersonal skills.

IT & ERP Supervisor

Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the IT & ERP Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the company’s computer systems, making decisions about computer hardware, software and networks. The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Stipulating and implementing internal IT policies and standards effectively.
  • Collaborating with department personnel and designing innovative solutions for all IT issues.
  • Maintaining internal network, devices, software and hardware for processes according to security requirement.
  • Maintaining ERP system, ensure running smoothly.
  • Designing and updating website from time to time, maintain email system.
  • Analyzing existing working process, designing IT solution and helping all departments optimize internal process, improve the efficiency, and save cost.
  • Computer maintenance and management, trouble shooting and avoid, systems backups, archiving and disaster recovery and provide expert support when necessary.
  • Updating software version to make the system exactly and more efficient.
  • Maintaining internal correspondence and communication in an efficient and secure way.
  • To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of a Bachelor in Computer Science or related technical field with at least 3 years of IT work experience and good communication skill.
  • Experience in SUN or SAP system is preferred.

IT Support

Reporting to the IT&ERP Supervisor, the IT support is responsible for assisting IT supervisor in daily maintenance of computer hardware and software. The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Helping personnel in compliance with internal IT policies and standards.
  • Maintaining internal network, devices, software and hardware for processes according to security requirement.
  • Computer maintenance, systems backups, archiving and disaster recovery. Provide expert support.
  • To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of a Bachelor in Computer Science or related technical field with at least 2 years of IT work experience and good communication skills.

Admin Assistant/HR Assistant

Reporting to the HR Manager, the main responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assisting HR Manager to complete the daily work. Coordinating the communication between other departments and HR Manager. Providing necessary information service for HR Manager.
  • Organizing and preparing for meetings presided over by HR Manager. Drafting agendas, arranging documents, and keeping minutes of meetings. Timely checking and reviewing the implementation state of relevant decisions made in meetings.
  • Executing and accomplishing all tasks assigned by HR Manager in manner of honesty and initiative.
  • Sorting out all HR Manager‘s documents and files in specific classifications for keeping and filing.
  • Writing and proofreading documents including work summary when necessary.
  • Collecting and counting materials and reports required by HR Manager.
  • Using evaluation tools to ensure managers and other employees know how to improve their performance.
  • Reception for guests.

To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of a Diploma in HR, Admin Assistant or related field, with  a minimum of 2 years’ experience and good communication skills.

Senior Accountant

Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the Senior Accountant is responsible for daily work of Credit and A/R management in MELT Zambia to support the company’s business objectives. The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Preparing the monthly financial reports based on IFRS standard and management reports submitted to headquarters.
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, taxation regulations and foreign exchange policies. Assist with tax duties and tax returns.
  • Preparing tax calculation and filing to ZRA.
  • Performing all journal entries in a timely and accurate manner, including variance adjustment on standard cost vs. actual cost.
  • Fixed assets management.
  • Computerized accounting system (ERP).
  • Directing internal audit and coordinating with external audit to ensure compliance.
  • Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Intercompany transactions.
  • Be involved in and managing trade finance, letter of credit (LC) and bank acceptance (BA).
  • Verifying, allocating, posting and reconciling accounts payable, receivable and general ledger.
  • To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of a Bachelor degree in finance, accounting, tax or other related fields with 2 years experience in similar role in a Wholly Foreign-Owned Enterprise or part of an accounting outsourcing team in an accounting/consulting firm.
  • Additionally, you must have experiences in dealing with manufacturing and trading accounts, be strong in IFRS and accounting standards and tax law, have good knowledge of Excel familiar with new IT Tools, as well as ERP systems. Must be member of ZICA. ACCA or CIMA is preferred.

Mechanical and Electrical Department Supervisor

Reporting to the Operation and Maintenance Manager, the Mechanical and Electrical Department Supervisor is responsible for managing and maintaining the mechanical and electrical equipment of the plant. The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Bringing the principles of electrical and mechanical engineering to the workplace.
  • Keeping equipment operational by following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures.
  • Responding to repair request.
  • Checking and keeping logs of equipment.
  • Mechanical tooling.
  • Drafting technical instructions to improve effectiveness of all equipment, especially computer driven ones.
  • Training and guiding technicians and operators.
  • To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of a Bachelor degree in electrical engineering and/or mechanical engineering and minimum 5 years’ experience in similar role with good communication and interpersonal skills

Metallurgical Inspector

Reporting to the Technical and Quality Control Manager, the main responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Preparing samples according to metallographic inspection standard.
  • Registering daily metallurgical inspection state and summarizing into reports.
  • Daily maintenance for metallurgical equipment.
  • Conducting inspection in manner of timeliness and fidelity.

Control and Lab Supervisor

Reporting to the Technical & Quality Manager, the main responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Performing inspection work according to production plan, ensuring timely inspection and accurate data. Establishing and maintaining test data for inquiry.
  • Quality inspection in the whole process of production.
  • Raw material inspection. Judging and analyzing unqualified materials. Giving timely feedback to source of the unqualified material and keeping record.
  • Checking tempering furnace regularly according to the rules. Using temperature tracker to test the temperature in tempering furnace and putting forward suggestions.
  • Maintaining the orderliness of the lab and keeping the lab, line cutting room and ball dropping machines clean.
  • Ensuring validity and reasonable allocation of measuring tools. Managing and calibrating measuring instruments. Drafting and implementing checking schedule.

Statistician

Reporting to the Production Manager, the statistician is responsible for ERP input of production report forms, attendance statistics and energy input. The main responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • ERP system audit and input.
  • Collecting and organizing the energy data of office, plant and analyze the cost.
  • Downtime and content statistics.
  • Preparing and distributing meeting minutes of the production department.
  • Assisting the production manager in collecting and sorting out data of index.
  • Reporting the summary of raw material consumption.

To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in statistics or related fields with good communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in MS office and ERP system a must.

Metal workers, Electricians and Heavy Duty Motor Vehicle Drivers

Reporting to the metal work and electrician supervisors, these positons will be responsible for assisting in various activities as directed by their supervisors.

To be considered for these roles, you must have a minimum of a grade 9 certificate, bridge crane operating license and relevant professional certificate. Heavy Duty Motor Vehicle drivers with class CE driver’s license a must.
