Mumbwa Child Development Agency
Mumbwa Child Development Agency (MCDA) is a registered local non-governmental organization operating in the Mumbwa and Shibuyunji districts of Central Province, Zambia, since 2005. The organization is dedicated to supporting deprived, excluded, and vulnerable populations, particularly children, youth, and women.
The organization would like to recruit an outstanding, result oriented and self-motivated and versatile individual of high integrity with the appropriate qualifications and experience to fill up the position of Monitoring and evaluation Coordinator.
PURPOSE OF POSITION & JOB SUMMARY
Working as a senior member of a diverse team, the Program & Sponsorship Coordinator manages the overall delivery of organisation’s project core outcomes of various thematic areas in the catchment area. He/She provides leadership and strategic direction of all current and future projects. The PSC coordinates and monitor programs, mentor community volunteers, Children, Youths and parents with a goal of helping them transform their own communities. The core purpose of this position is to facilitate community engagement, build and strengthen partnerships at various levels, enhance community and partner capacity, and strengthen community-led initiatives to improve and sustain the well-being of children and families. The PSC supports sponsorship programme processes.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY RESULT AREAS
PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT
The officer is supposed to facilitate the development and implementation of organization strategy as well as programme delivery at community level. He/she is expected to support the establishment of strong communities that control and use assets to help improve the quality of community life.
Key performance standards
Oversee the overall implementation of the designated projects in consultation with other staff and ensuring objectives are met within the required time frame and budget. Where necessary ensure preventative and corrective action is taken according to the organizational standards.
Support management in day-to-day decision-making as requested.
Work with staff in other technical Area Programme levels to implement activities for improved integrated implementation for impact and create integration opportunities for Sponsorship business.
Facilitate and support local-level advocacy in MCDA interventions for better service provision/delivery.
Regularly assess and provide feedback and recommendations on the quality of the programmes and interventions during field visits and at other relevant time.
Contribute to the attainment of MCDA Vision, Core Values and Policies.
Participate in the development of fundable proposals and other fund raising ventures for MCDA working hand in hand with the ED and M &E/Grants Officer
Strengthen volunteer participation in program implementation
- Participate in the design and production of program planning documents
- Maintaining high standard of stewardship and accountability of all resources entrusted to him/her
SPONSORSHIP MANAGEMENT
The role involves ensuring sponsorship standards are adhered to including monitoring and record keeping of all received, processed, pending, and rejected SR materials. This entails supporting the SRO and POs in their day-to-day work for effective processing of SR materials as per Federation agreed timelines.
CAPACITY BUILDING AND DEVELOPMENT
Key performance standards
- Support POs and communities to manage community assets entrusted in them on behalf of the Federation
- Carry out needs assessment and communicate any development initiatives to management
- Mentor community volunteers and staff to effectively monitor implementation of programs and projects
- Encouraging active participation of community leadership in project activities
- Provide knowledge and skills to the Federation on engaging children and youth in activities that promote their development
- Ensure all staff and volunteers have a good understanding, appreciation and adherence to child protection issues/policies
- Conduct tranings for staff, partners, community and other relevant stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of activities.
Support the Federation to hold various meetings at community, district and national level
Conduct quarterly and annual evaluations for subordinates
REPRESENTATION, NETWORKING AND ADVOCACY
Key performance standards
- Ensuring the observance of the child protection Policy
- Leasing with institutions at district and community level i.e. government departments and structures in planning and implementation of programs that benefit vulnerable children in the community
- Provide effective representation of interests of children and youth among the partners and networks stakeholders at all levels
- Establish and maintain networks at district and national levels
MONITORING AND DOCUMENTATION
Key performance standards
- Working with the M & E Officer to design community monitoring plans for the projects and programs
- Work closely with the M&E officer to ensure regular monitoring and evaluation assessments against project objectives are conducted and reports submitted timely
- Holding monthly and quarterly community meetings to give feedback on the programs and projects to community associations
- Participate in Federation and Community Association meetings and ensure reports are produced
- Working with the sponsorship Coordinator, Community Development Facilitators in carrying out regular headcounts to establish the existence of the children in the communities
- Ensuring timely submission of quality reports (monthly, quarterly, annual and other reports)
- Participate in documenting and sharing of programme lessons and best practices with partners and stakeholders.
- Develop comprehensive beneficiary lists for all projects
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Degree in Development Studies, Rural Development, Project Management, Social Work, Education, Health or relevant human service discipline
- At least Five years work experience in implementing integrated projects
- Computer proficiency in general office software applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Power point)
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English, fluency in a local language (Tonga, Kaonde, sala, Illa, Nyanja etc) is a must
- Demonstrated ability in organizing and facilitating groups and trainings
- Hands-on in participatory Community development approaches; mobilization and capacity building.
- Possess well-developed networking abilities, and able to interact well with children, youths, adults in communities, area staff, and community volunteers
- Dynamic and result oriented
- Experience working with nongovernmental and community-based organizations.
- Must be highly reliable and independent, able to work with minimal supervision under pressure.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines
