Job Description

The role of the Accountant is as follows:

  • Timely preparation and submission of returns to various statutory bodies;
  • Capture, review and reconcile entries in the ERP system as necessary;
  • Prepare reconciliations of various accounts including debtors, creditors, inventory, cashbooks, etc. from time to time to ensure the accounts are accurate and up to date.
  • Assist in the preparation management accounts or other such reporting requirements in accordance with the various requirements of the business units or line managers;
  • Liaise and manage various aspects of the regulatory universe which includes the Zambia Revenue Authority, NAPSA, etc. to ensure prompt and accurate submissions of returns, payments and reconciliation;
  • Payroll processing;
  • Coordinating with the external auditors and ensuring timely completion of the various group audits;
  • Liaise with suppliers and customers for reconciliation purposes as necessary;
  • To ensure that the books of accounts are up to date, error free and are available on demand for decision making purposes.
  • To ensure that storing and maintain records for future accessibility as required during statutory or other audits in complying with the Laws of Zambia.
  • Ensure consistency between our accounting records and those of a counterparty such as a supplier, customer, affiliate or partner.
  • Handling delayed collections of debt and ensuring prompt collections.
  • Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation.
  • Preparation of cash flow based on the requirements of the business in liaison with the Head of Finance.
  • Responsible to working with the other members of the team for the day-to-day financial operations within the company, such as Payments, Invoicing, Collections, and other transactions pertaining to the business.

Experience

  1. Excellent oral and written skills
  2. A Minimum 3 years work experience in an Accounting function
  3. Part – ACCA/CIMA/ZICA CA Programme
  4. A ZiCA member
  5. Well versed with Sage ERP or Pastel Accounting Software
