Position – Chef (1)
Northern Rock Hotel has an exciting opportunity for a chef to join the team based in Mpika, Muchinga Province. We pride ourselves in giving all of our customer’s unbeatable value and a quality experience. Our prospective chef should be passionate about their area of expertise. As a chef you would be responsible for preparing meals and snacks for à la carte, conferences or catering events for our customers. The position is on a full time & permanent basis.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and present high quality dishes in a timely manner
- Ensure that all food is presented attractively and at the right temperature
- Ensure kitchen is well stocked during shift hours
- Keep food wastage to a minimum
- Ensure that recipes are followed to allow for a consistent and high standard of food
- Ensure correct operation of all kitchen equipment and utensils
- Maintain high standard of hygiene in the kitchen and surrounding areas
- Report issues to do with equipment, appliances, hygiene and environment
- Record accurate end of shift stock records
- Ensure to meet departmental targets and strive to achieve them as a team
- Full awareness of all menu items, their recipes, methods of production and presentation standards
Qualifications and Experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Grade twelve (12) School Certificate/General Certificate of Education (GCE) Equivalent
- Relevant qualification from a recognized college or university
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the food industry
- A passion for food and the culinary arts. A passion to learn and a drive to succeed in the food industry
- Ability to work under pressure
- Be willing to relocate and live in Mpika
