As a Bookkeeping and Accounting Assistant at Opportune Time Business Consultants, your job will include managing accounting (FA & MA), Tax tasks and bookkeeping. You will work closely with our team to make sure everything runs smoothly and accurately. Your role will be key in helping our company deliver excellent service to our clients and make a strong impact through effective bookkeeping and accounting management and operational support.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Bookkeeping

Record cashbook transactions
Reconcile accounts
Handling day-to-day bookkeeping tasks. Maintain accurate financial records. Ensures accurate and up-to-date financial records, reconciles accounts, and
processes payment.

2. Tax Management and planning
3. Making accounts ready for audit
4. Accounting (FA&MA)
Collaborate with clients to gather necessary financial data requirements. Process data received from data capturers (cash book, sales, expenses) for
accuracy.
Analyze the General Trial Balance to ensure consistency between OTB records
and client data.
Obtain approvals for final financial figures.
Generate key financial statements, including Income Statements and Balance
Sheets.
Analyze financial reports to identify potential errors or discrepancies.  Evaluate client business performance based on financial data.
Deliver electronic financial reports for client review and approval.
Prepare hard copies of final reports for client submission.

5. Tax management

Tax management and planning
Develop internal management reports for tax purposes.
Liaise with clients regarding income tax assessments and payable amounts. Navigate the ZRA (Zambia Revenue Authority) income tax filing process (30% rate).
Secure acknowledgment receipts for tax submissions.
Facilitate client tax payments through PRN (payment reference number) on ZRA or by processing payments through OTB.

Additional Responsibilities:

Maintain a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial
reporting standards.
Ensure accurate and timely completion of financial reports and tax filings. Communicate effectively with clients to gather information and address
inquiries.
Stay updated on relevant tax regulations and procedures in Zambia.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Higher Diploma or last year ACCA or CIMA and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in finance-related or bookkeeping role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of bookkeeping best practices
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Adept with using computer programs such as Excel, Outlook, QuickBooks, or other software as required
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Highly organized and able to work under pressure to specific deadlines
  • Great Math skills

Office Hours
Your regular working hours are from 08:00hrs to 17:00hrs on weekdays
