Pharmacy & Supply Chain Hub Lead x2 (Luanshya and Mufulira)

Position Overview

Pact seeks to hire Pharmacy & Supply Chain Hub Leads to support the USAID/Zambia Integrated Health Activity (ZIH) financed by USAID. ZIH is a five-year project led by Pact in partnership with the Center for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia, Circles of Hope, Mothers2Mothers, Copper Rose Zambia, Zambia Network of Young People Living with HIV/AIDS, and Viamo. ZIH will improve health outcomes of Zambians through equitable access to high-quality health services in the areas of client centered HIV, tuberculosis; maternal, newborn and child health; family planning; and reproductive health.
Pact works closely with the Zambian Ministry of Health to attain the country’s goal of reaching HIV epidemic control (95-95-95) by 2030.

Key Responsibilities

  • To ensure 100% stock availability all in ARVs, Essential Medicines and other HIV related pharmaceutical.
  • To improve timeliness in report submissions, reporting rates to 100% and quality of reports before submission.
  • To Provide technical support to Pharmacy Technologists, clinicians, Counselors and Lay Counselors on usage of logistics tools (DARs, stock control cards – both paper based and electronic tools) to ensure efficient use of HIV test kits and accountability for each test used.
  • To conduct routine supply chain audit inspections and provide technical support services in all USAID-ZIH supported districts to ensure that there is accountability in the supply chain management of Medical, Pharmaceuticals and Laboratory commodities.
  • To enforce the use of logistics management information system (LMIS) data to identify trends in consumption and inventory management at facility and District levels.
  • To always Plan for buffer stock to take care of shortages in medical, pharmaceutical and laboratory supplies including HIV test kits and selected essential drugs.
  • Work closely with the MoH and the USAID-ZIH Provincial Supply Chain Coordinators in ensuring that the lab and pharmacy teams are fully equipped with the necessary logistics tools and knowledge to conduct their work.
  • Work with Ministry of Health staff in reviewing set targets against monthly commodity consumption and give updates on the stock availability.

Basic Requirements

  • Degree in Pharmacy with 3 years’ experience in a similar position or Diploma in Pharmacy with 5 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Registered with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).
  • Experience with PEPFAR-funded projects in Zambia, including technical understanding of PEPFAR 3.0 and USAID indicators and managing for performance.
  • Ability to sustain interpersonal and professional relationships with internal colleagues and contacts in donor and partner organizations.
  • Strong planning and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask with ease, adapting to frequently changing priorities.
  • Being able to work effectively with GRZ through District Health Offices and health facilities.
  • Knowledge of Zambia consolidated guidelines in ART management
  • Good oral and documentation communication skills
