JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:  Planner, Shutdowns & Long Term

SITE:  Kansanshi Mining PLC

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

SECTION: Maintenance Planning

DIRECTLY REPORTS TO:  Planer, Shutdown (Supervisor)

POSITION REPORTS TO:  Planning Coordinator

GRADE: 14

Purpose

To diligently execute maintenance planning functions according to instructions and prescribed standards ensuring that optimum equipment availability and reliability is realised in the Milling/Grinding section

Key Responsibilities

This This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
Coordinate maintenance activities in the New Mills, Old Mills and Pebble Crushers to ensure minimum interruption to the production process, while ensuring that work performed maximizes operational run time
Compiling schedules for new equipment in line with OEM recommendations and RCM principles and uploading into the ERP system for the above 4 sections
Planning and Scheduling of daily, Weekly, Monthly and other scheduled Maintenance including Shutdowns for the mentioned sections. Through interaction with operations and maintenance personnel ensure that the most cost effective and efficient solution is arrived at for maintenance.
Making follow-ups on the work Orders waiting parts in collaboration with the expediting officer
Work with the Procurement Department when preparing bill of materials or project budgets and manage within the confines of the established budget.
Ensuring the timely availability of spares for scheduled maintenance. Raising of ANSIs (Application for non-stock items) for the above sections
Conducting Planning Meetings with other stakeholders in the section
Raising and closing of work orders in the ERP maintenance module
Preparing and presenting weekly and monthly performance reports & any other reports and analysis as may be required or that can bring excellence to the section/department.
Performing RCFA on equipment failures and chairing analysis meetings
Ensure the accuracy of the ERP Maintenance module database, task list, equipment history, spares lists, and Applied Parts Lists (APLs).
Shut Down Coordination for the 4 sections mentioned above
Maintaining good working relationships with internal and external departmental employees
Monitor maintenance activity progress and adjust completion schedule and manpower requirements accordingly
Creating and maintaining of monitor points for critical plant items in the section in-conjunction with the Scada system (Control room based program)
Develop, populate and maintain a comprehensive data base designed to monitor and improve maintenance department efficiency, including identifying areas for cost savings and preventative maintenance schedules.

Qualifications

Grade 12 Certificate
Minimum of a Craft Certificate in Mechanical or related Engineering Field
A member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)

Experience

Minimum (3) years maintenance planning and engineering experience in the mining industry.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness.
Experience in managing costs and budgeting
Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas
