EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

The Road Development Agency is a statutory organization whose function is to plan, manage and coordinate the road network in the country. The Agency is responsible for planning, care, maintenance and construction of public roads in Zambia. It also regulates the maximum permissible weights on roads, conducts studies for the development, maintenance and improvement of the road network, and reviews design standards and classification.

In order to implement this mandate the Road DevelopmentAgency now wishes to fill up the vacant position as follows.

PRINCIPAL ENGINEER- GEOMATIC/SURVEY

(i) Job Purpose

Reporting to the Senior Manager – Design, the Principal Engineer – Survey – Geomatic will be responsible for the overall planning and coordination of topographic survey igeomatic works for roads and bridges.

(ii) Main Duties and Accountabilities

  • Manage and operate systems for collecting and analyzing spatial data for use in the design and
    implementation ofroad and bridge projects.
  • Review and confirm all survey data including quantities prepared by third parties engaged by the
    Agency on various projects;
  • Prepare geometric designs for all in- house RDA projects including the review of geometric designs
    prepared by third parties engaged by the Agency;
  • Road reserve management including regulation and review ofall applications for access;
  • Using specialized technical software and equipment to provide data for the production ofnautical charts and maps;
  • Collect data about features of the landscape for engineers, including positioning of objects, land
    contours, and materials earth’s surface;
  • Respond to technical queries relating to survey work on all RDA projects;

(iii) Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering/ Land Survey/ Geomatic Engineering;
  • Registered Member ofthe Engineering Institution of Zambia;
  • Not less than five (5) years’ experience in topographic survey for road design and construction;
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in geometric designs of roads;
  • Ability to multitask;
  • Must have a dynamic, proactive approach with excellent communications skills;
  • Must be computer literate.
