The Planning Manager is responsible for the oversight and management of the site’s operational and supply chain activities which includes but not limited to quality, direct materials, inventory, logistics, warehouse, production and labor scheduling. Managing Site plant operations and Supply chain activities through subordinate staff, having full accountabilities in their respective areas. Provides leadership and decisions to staff on operational questions related to their areas of responsibility. Job covers both commercial and Parent Seed facilities.

Responsibilities to be met:

Operational Planning:

  • Responsible for all aspects of inventory planning and management at site from receiving to final disposition of products and materials used in manufacturing.
  • Ensure smooth flow of inventory for all stages – receiving, bulk, semi-finished goods, finished goods, discard.
  • Inventory tracking – transactional excellence, quality standards, sampling, reporting,
    and audits.
  • Plan and establishes production schedules for all plant production activities to meet production goals at the local level.
  • Ensures trucking capabilities from green, ready dried seed products, through to bulk
  • Balance labor, assets and schedules to meet volume and financial target.
  • Network with Supply Chain leads to establish distribution goals, and communication plans to Contract Administration – site contact & site administrator
  • Site Management Responsibility (i.e. budgets, oversight of meeting shipping goals,
    etc.)

Champion Business Improvement and Productivity Initiatives:

  •  Utilizing DPS, identify and prioritize productivity improvement opportunities at location
  • Sponsorship of projects, team members, timelines and deliverables to ensure productivity objectives are met.
  • Implement best productivity practices in site’s supply chain operations and ensure these practices are sustained.
  • Initiate plans and processes which minimize production cost through effective utilization of human capital, equipment, facilities, material and capital.

Leadership and Manager Accountability:

  • Coach, support and develop employees on your team in a manner that fosters effective collaboration and teamwork, demonstrating and modeling the Core Values.

    achieve business results.

Achievement of Seed Quality Plan Standards:

  •  Oversight of; timing, flow, seed handling techniques, to ensure quality plan standards are met.
  • Ensure quality management system is in place and effective.
  • Regulatory compliance (safety, wage/hour laws, etc.), adherence to quality and plant/field policies and standard operating procedures
  • Oversight of production of regulated and restricted products to comply with the regulatory standards. Logistics and Warehouse Management:
  • Responsible for direct management of all Site logistics and warehouses
  • Responsible for resource allocation needs for logistics and warehouse
  • Ownership of the Site plant operations and site warehouse operational budgets
  • Project generation, participation, and leadership of improvement projects
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 5-10 years’ experience in managing a production facility.
  • Finger dexterity for using keyboard.
  • Primarily in a production office or in conditioning plant with regular interaction taking place in a high traffic & activity plant/warehouse area.
  • The position also requires interaction and field visits with Field Operations and team.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to lead leaders and influence/collaborate cross-functionally. Position is responsible for managing and balancing production resources (people, budget, workflow, equipment, facilities, etc.)

Functional Competencies:

  • Proficient user of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
