WORK HOURS: Full-Time, 40 Hours/Week

The Eastern Provincial Health Office under the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Project through a Cooperative Agreement (CoAg) with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the positions listed to be employed on a one-year contract basis.

PROVINCIAL PREVENTION OF MOTHER TO CHILD TRANSMISSION (PMTCT) COORDINATOR (1 POSITION)

Location: Eastern Provincial Health Office- Chipata District                                    

Job Purpose: To strengthen PMTCT services in the province towards virtual elimination of vertical transmission of HIV from mother to child.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Puts in place, systems for effective coordination and implementation of evidence-based and optimum PMTCT services across all support districts and sites in the province for maximum results.
  • Coordinates all community, site and above-site level partners involved in the implementation of PMTCT activities in the province inclusive of government and other none state actors.
  • Undertakes to ensure that all sites in the province providing PMTCT services have the necessary equipment/supplies and skills.
  • Ensures that not less than 95% of pregnant and breastfeeding women seeking services in support sites know their HIV status and are re-tested according to national guidelines.
  • Ensures that all HIV pregnant and breastfeeding women are receiving efficacious treatment, retained in care, and achieve viral suppression at not less than 95%.
  • Ensures that all HIV Exposed Infants (children born to HIV positive mothers) are tested at birth or within 0-2months and subsequently until final outcome at 24 months is determined.

Required, Qualification, Skills and Experience

  • Grade 12 certificate with at least five O- level credits or better.
  • Degree or higher in Nursing.
  • Professional Diploma or Certificate in Midwifery is required.
  • Registered with Health General Nursing Council of Zambia.
  • At least three (3) years relevant experience in HIV programming with particular bias to PMTCT is required.
  • Experience in PEPFAR supported TB/HIV programs will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to write technical papers and reports clearly in English
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English and local languages
  • Ability to analyze and present granular program data is a must.
  • Must between the Age of 21 years and 50 years
  • Other skills/Attributes: Computer literate, Managerial skills, Interpersonal relations, initiative.
