The Reformed Church in Zambia is a faith-based organization whose mandate is to meet human needs holistically in her quest to faithfully serve God. The Church is presently implementing a Church in Community (CnC) project which is aimed at improving the Economic well-being of the Church and the community through faith and actions.
This project is being implemented with the major aim of having “A Transformed Church Serving a Transformed Community.”
The Reformed Church in Zambia – Church in Community, therefore, is looking for an Accounts Assistant to be based in Chipata who will be reporting to the coordinator.
Below are the duties and responsibilities.
Job Title: Assistant Accountant
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare receipts for all cash received and follow-up on all overdue unpaid invoices.
- Prepare payments, which include, payment vouchers, cheques, make online payments and ensure that they are done on time.
- Ensure that all retirements are collected from relevant staff and filed accordingly.
- To ensure that all accounts records are properly filed and secured.
- Ensure that all records are filed in clearly labelled box files.
- Perform all banking transactions.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
- Assist in budget preparation.
- Prepare and reconcile petty cash.
- Ensure that all organizational assets are secured and clearly labelled.
- Assist in the management of RCZ CnC assets.
- Assist in the preparation of financial and management reports.
- Work with supervisors in processing fund requests and ensure that they are approved by relevant officials.
- Prepare documents for audit and work with auditors to ensure a smooth audit.
- Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Accountancy (A degree in any related field will be an added advantage).
- Computer literate (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, accounting software and Internet).
- Three (3) years of progressive working experience in accounts.
- Previous experience in donor funded programs or governmental institution.
- Experience in managing a multi-disciplinary team, strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
- Team management.
- Decision making skills and ability to work under minimum supervision.
