JOB SUMMARY

The position holder is the operational leader of the Network Department with ultimate responsibility for designing, organizing, installing, and maintaining the company’s computer hardware, software and, networks to meet its operations and objectives.

The Senior Network Administrator reports to the Administrative Manager and manages and provides hardware and software maintenance, training and consultation, and recommendations about future planning and development of ITC resources. Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure maximum access to and implementation of technology services and resources.

The Senior Network Administrator has the responsibility to advise management on the best practices in the ICT area so that the company moves with time in ensuring that the IT aspects and needs make company operations easier in all departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Give supervisory and hands-on leadership toward the achievement of the Department’s annual goals and objectives.
  • Implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
  • Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the operations of information systems and electronic data processing (EDP) Delegation of duty – Device and effectively implement a work plan for all subordinates.
  • Control and evaluate the operations of information systems and electronic data processing Ensure timely identification, troubleshooting, and resolution of all network-related issues.
  • Effectively undertake the implementation of all network systems changes and related support.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware against unauthorized access to prevent business interruptions.
  • Secure and Safeguard Company information through the regular and safe backup of company files.
  • Provide appropriate leadership, coaching, supervision, and guidance to the Network Administration Team.
  • Liaise with Executive Management Team, Departmental managers and Supervisors to discuss system requirements, specifications, costs and timelines.
  • Manage departmental personnel and contractors to design, develop, implement, operate and administer computer and telecommunications software, networks and information systems.
  • Ensure that company IT assets are well secured and documented by keeping a complete Asset Register.
  • Effectively monitor all physical network connectivity infrastructure for activity and thresholds, all connectivity through Internet infrastructure and Quality of Service (QOS) performance.
  • Ensure that all Local Area networks are up and running without breaching the agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Proactively monitor ongoing performance and capability of systems and recommend upgrades or modifications according to the current utilization and future demands.
  • Liaise with Executive Management Team, Departmental managers and Supervisors to discuss system requirements, specifications, costs and timelines.
  • Prepare adhoc, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports showing network performance

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL COMPETENCIES

Preferred Professional Qualifications

  •  Holder of at least a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science.
  • Any Other Appropriate Qualification, such as CISCO CCNA Certification, ICT Security, Programming skills, or their equivalent will be added advantage

Knowledge/Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience.
