The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The role involves working closely with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and effective financial management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Statements: Prepare full sets of financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annually).
  • Vouchers and Documents: Prepare vouchers (income, expenses, and journal) and other business documents.
  • Cash Book and Reconciliation: Post cash book entries, perform bank reconciliations, and reconcile balance sheet items.
  • Budget Management: Prepare, implement, and monitor budgetary allocations and controls.
  • Payroll: Prepare payroll, payroll journals, and postings.
  • Reporting: Prepare various accounts reports at group level and for industry regulatory authorities.
  • Revenue and Expenditure Analysis: Analyze revenue and expenditure trends, recommend appropriate budget levels, and ensure expenditure control.
  • Billing and Policies: Explain billing invoices and accounting policies to staff, vendors, and clients. Resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Data Management: Supervise the input and handling of financial data and reports for the company’s automated systems.
  • Audit Interaction: Interact with internal and external auditors to complete audits.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree in Accounting.
  • Professional Qualification: ZICA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent is an added advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience, preferably in microfinance.
  • Skills: Highly analytical, excellent communication skills (both oral and written), proficiency in MS Office, and attention to detail.
  • Registration: Valid registration with the Zambia Institute for Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
