The Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) is a statutory institution owned by the two Governments of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Zambia on a 50/50 shareholding basis. Incorporated by the Acts of Parliament of the two contracting states, the Authority’s registered office is in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with two regional administrative centres in Mpika, Zambia and Dar es Salaam. Some positions have fallen vacant in the Zambian Region. In this regard, applications are invited from suitably qualified Zambian applicants, as follows.
Job Title: Secretary
Duty Station: Regional Office, Mpika, Zambia
Job Purpose:
To provide secretarial services to the Regional General Manager (RGM) and carry out other related work to optimise the RGM’s efficienc and effectiveness.
Main Duties
- Providing professional secretarial and administrative services;
- Preparing and managing correspondences, reports an documents;
- Maintaining a permanent filing system (soft and hard copy);
- Processing incoming and outgoing mails and maintaining the mail registers;
- Receiving visitors and organizing and scheduling meeting appointments;
- Answering telephone calls promptly and providing information to callers, taking messages or transferring calls;
- Ensuring a conducive working environment; and
- Performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- Full Grade 12 certificate;
- Diploma in secretarial duties, obtained from a reputable institution;
- Typing speed of not less than 50 words per minute,
- Computer skills, with particular proficiency in Microsoft programs;
- At least three years’ experience; and
- Not more than 45 years of age.
