Radiation Protection Authority

The Government of the Republic of Zambia created Radiation Protection Authority (RPA) through the enactment of the Ionising Radiation Protection Act No. 16 of 2005. The RPA is a body corporate which has a duty to protect the public, workers and the environment from the harmful effects arising from the use of devices or materials capable of producing ionising radiation. In its continued effort to effectively carry out its mandate, the Authority seeks to employ appropriately qualified persons in the following positions:

Job Objective

To coordinate the human resource and co-ordinate administrative functions in order to promote efficient and effective operations of the Institution,

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Co-ordinates effectively all the human resource management functions in order to enhance staff morale and optimise utilization of human resource
  • Co-ordinates effectively the human resource development functions in order to facilitate staff development and enhance staff performance
  • Co-ordinates timely provision of administrative and other support services in order to facilitate efficient and effective operations of the Institution
  • Co-ordinates effectively storage of goods in order to ensure their availability and safe custody
  • Ensures effectively provision of registry systems in order to facilitate accessibility to information
  • Ensures effectively the provision of secretarial services in order to contribute to the efficient operation of the Institution
  • Supervises effectively staff and other resources of the department in order to facilitate the attainment of the unit’s objectives
  • Ensures timely development of work plans and implementation of the Annual Performance
  • Appraisal System in order to monitor, evaluate and enhance performance.

Industrial Relations:

  • Maintain harmonized Industrial Relations, with minimal work loss
  • Identify ways of enhancing employee productivity
  • Maintain high engagement level with the workforce

Compensation Management:

  • Develop and maintain Manpower Budgets
  • Resolution of compensation related queries of employees

Performance Management:

  • Ensuring timely completion of goal setting, quarterly reviews and annual appraisals, on Success Factors
  • Facilitate career discussions

Learning and Development:

  • Access capability gaps and develop training interventions to fill them
  • Identify business, departments and individual training needs
  • Rolling out the training calendar
  • Ensuring proper induction of all the new employees

HR Operations:

  • Ensuring timely completion of all activities involved in Employee Life Cycle like probation evaluation and confirmation of new employees, transfers, etc.
  • Ensuring completeness and accuracy of data of all employees on Success Factors

General Administration:

  • Responsible for Facility management and providing general administration services
  • Establish contacts with service providers

Government Affairs:

  • Responsible for coordination with key government agencies for employment perspective
  • Liaise with government bodies to ensure successful running of labour matters

  • Payroll management
  • Human Resource/ Industrial relations
  • HR processes & Procedures
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities

Minimum Relevant Pre-Job Experience:

  • 5 years

Communication Skills:

Written Skills: Able to write comprehensive and analytical reports
Oral Skills: Able to communicate effectively

Qualifications and requirements

  • Full Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Degree in Human Resource Management or its equivalent
  • Knowledge of Contemporary HR practice and compliance
  • Knowledge of HR Payroll software is mandatory
  • Good understanding and able to interpret the Zambian Labour Laws
  • Must be member of Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management
  • The applicant must be between 30 to 40 years
