Caritas Chipata is a faith based organization, established by the Catholic Diocese of Chipata to promote integral human development, economic justice, human dignity and empowerment of the less privileged in the society. Caritas Chipata envisions an Eastern province where people are able to move out of poverty and create sustainable livelihoods for themselves as a result of improved policies, structures and services, increased participation by local people and accountable leaders who work for the common good. To obtain this Caritas Chipata has two strategic programs:

  1. Catholic Commission for Development (CCD)
  2. Catholic Commission for Justice & Peace (CCJP)

The Organisation seeks to employ qualified persons to fill the following position;

Position Title: SILC Field Supervisor

Work station: Within the community: Petauke & Katete

Number of positions:  Four

Primary responsibilities:

The Field Agent Supervisor will be responsible for conducting post-training supervision of the Field agents to ensure proper mentorship of the SILC groups by the Field Agents. The Field Agent Supervisor will identify ways to improve performance and management of groups by the Field Agents. The Field Agent Supervisor will work under the direct supervision of the SILC Project Officer, especially in areas of planning and coordination of field activities and reporting. The Field Agent supervisor will ensure that the Field Agents meet their targets, attend group meetings as and when they are required, collect data from the field agents and submit the same without delay.

Job responsibilities:

  • Together with the Agro-enterprise Technical Quality Coordinator, ensure that the FAs and groups are well trained on the SILC methodology.
  • Conduct post-training supervision of the FAs to ensure successful internalization of the methodology.
  • Conduct training needs assessments of FAs through identification of FA performance/management problems and provide necessary follow-up training.
  • Ensure that the FAs submit regular reports including, but not limited to: Duly filled SILC Field Agent data collection forms: SILC Monthly narrative reports of groups covered by the Field Agent; SILC Health Diagnosis Forms; SILC Monthly work plans.
  • Identify problems in the above reports and rectify before submitting to the Agro-enterprise Technical Quality Coordinator.
  • Ensure that FAs conduct smooth and justified transition of SILC groups from one phase to the next.
  • Participate together with other staff in regular planning, review, and coordination of activities.
  • Supervise FAs and carry out performance appraisal of FAs in the area of jurisdiction.
  • Ensure proper mentoring of FAs to become Private Service Providers (PSPs) after a stipulated period.
  • Prepare detailed reports on progress of SILC activities in area of operation.
  • Perform any other job-related duties that may be assigned by the supervisor
  • Should develop and maintain good working relations with partners, Community leaders and community members.
  • He/she should develop and maintain linkages with local government officers like agriculture, community development assistants and other NGOs operating in the area of duty.
  • Coordinate with the Community development animators in listening to community feedback regarding project activities.
  • Must have a valid motorbike riding license.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Diploma /Certificate in Social Work, Agri -Business and Secondary School Education.

Experience

  • 1-3 years working experience
  • Community and field experience

Competencies/Skills

  • Living in the community and fluent in local language.
  • Respected by people and community leaders with a reputation for integrity.
  • Well-known throughout the proposed working zone.
  • Experience in community mobilization with strong organizational skills.
  • Ready to supervise between 5 (minimum) to 8 (maximum) FAs.
  • An excellent team player who employs a flexible work approach.
  • A keen interest in rural development and community initiatives.
  • Must be a holder of motorbike riding license
