INVENTORY & COST ACCOUNTANT (X1)

Job Purpose

To be responsible for monitoring all inventory transactions in the general ledger in order to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the cost of inventory.

Main Duties

  • Organises and coordinates periodic physical inventory counts and cycle counts in line with DCP’s inventory management policies and highlight variances to superiors
  • Carries out valuation of stock after each count and identifies obsolete or disused stock for disposal and write-off
  • Re-values inventory at the new approved standard rates on a periodic basis
  • Maintains the general ledger for DCP’s inventory as per standard requirements
  • Coordinates with Production and Materials Management officials to reconcile inventory records
  • Performs period closing and related activities for reconciliation of inventory to general ledger
  • Performs any other duties as may be assigned by superiors from time to-time

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Accounting or other related discipline
  • 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Relevant professional certificate (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) will be an added advantage

Skills and Competencies

  • Good understanding of trends, challenges, opportunities, regulations and legislations relating to the cement manufacturing industry
  • Good knowledge of accounting of finance best practices, IFRS and other applicable accounting standards
  • Good understanding of SAP and inventory control systems with a working knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Good data gathering, analysis and problem solving skills
  • High ethical standards and integrity
  • Basic proficiency in the use of MS Office tools
