Qualifications & Experience

  • Full Grade 12 School Certificate with a Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics or the equivalent.
  • Not less than five (5) years’ experience in business development, fund-raising and proposal development. Exposure and familiarity with multi-donor and key stakeholder relations and engagements with public and private corporate and any international funding agencies is a mandatory requirement.

Role objective

  • The Grants and PD Manager (GPDM) will anchor the development of the MAs Fundraising Strategy and undertake IPD fundraising initiatives by actively seeking out and pitching for various fundraising opportunities internationally and domestically.
  • The (GPDM) will be responsible for responding to funding calls and invitations for Expressions of Interest by conceptualizing well-informed project proposals, Concept Notes and applications for funding.
  • The (GPDM) will work closely with the IPD Regional funding team and actively collaborate with PSAs for guidance on possible funding opportunities at international and regional levels.

Key Responsibilities

The Grants and PD Manager will be required to

  • Develop fundraising targets for the MA to broaden the MA’s grant portfolio.
  • Develop own Fund development workplan
  • Develop individual performance objectives to be agreed with Line Manager
  • Superintend and support Locations’ fundraising efforts from local corporates, donors, HNWIs, government, embassies and foundations
  • Demonstrate impact by enhancing the MAs grant portfolio to grow and diversify income and increase funding from non-traditional sources as outlined in the MAs National Strategy
  • Establish and forge partnerships and coalitions with locally based CBOs, INGOs and other organizations to respond to joint funding calls
  • Understand and fulfil multi-donor requirements to ensure alignment and compliance to the donors’ financing approaches and standards.
  • Compose donor reports as guided in the financing agreements and meet all contractual requirements
  • Prepare and submit IPD monthly updates and quarterly reports to regional office and to PSAs as may be required
  • Provide quarterly reports to the Fund Development Committee of the Board
  • Work with line manager and Programme team to develop both the short-term and long-term funding plans for the MA

 Additional Collaborative functions

  • Coordinate with individual and corporate child sponsors and HNWIs and donors to SOS
  • Coordinate all child sponsorship and local corporate fundraising events and road shows in league with Brand and Comms unit.
  • Initiate and coordinate fundraising campaigns and events nationally to maximize new sustainable funding opportunities.
  • Work in collaboration with the line manager, finance team and partners to ensure all contractual funding requirements are met and reported on time.
  • Develop a donor mapping system and tracker to monitor funding behaviours  and financing systems
  • In league with HROD and Finance Unit  exercise  oversight over Asset Optimization activities for the MA and monitor and report  local income generation from Optimal use of SOS assets.
