The Zambia Country Program portfolio includes projects across priority health programs such as malaria, nutrition and immunization, policy and advocacy as well as TB with funding from donors such as The United States Agency for International Development, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Conrad Hilton Foundation. With a staff establishment of 120, the PATH Zambia office is fast growing and the second largest office in Africa.

PATH is currently seeking to recruit a Temporary Finance Assistant to assist in the functions of the finance unit for the Zambia Office. The Finance Assistant will work under the direction of the Finance Manager and closely with Zambia operations group. It is expected that this person will render support to the office for a period up to 6 months.

Responsibilities:

Accounting: 

  • Post entries in the Quick Books accounting package for payments, expense reports, bank charges and monthly adjustments.
  • Assist in the reconciliation of monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist to upload online payments.
  • Assist to write cheques, as requested.

Statutory Obligations:

  • Assistant to compile documentation for statutory obligations.
  • Assist to maintain files for statutory obligations.

Financial Reporting:

  • Keep records of monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Retrieve relevant  financial documents if queried by International Accounting team.
  • Regularly scan the monthly financial documents and upload the approved lot onto the SharePoint.

Required Skills

  • Partly qualified ZICA, ACCA, or CIMA with minimum of 2 years relevant work experience in NGO sector or international organizations.       
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks.
  • An eye for detail.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a busywork environment.
  • MS Office computer skills is essential
  • Must be a current member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
  • Must be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of Zambian Labour Laws and taxation system.
  • Knowledge of USAID Rules and Regulations is essential.
  • Experience working in a similar INGO set-up
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Zambia
