Technical assistance is being provided to Zambia, through the CTCN, to build capacity in the country for preparing concept notes for submission to the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

The main purpose of the technical assistance is to enhance the skills of project proponents, for example technical employees of relevant Ministries and entities in preparing GCF concept notes for future submission to the GCF, based on the project visions identified as priorities in the country’s climate change process (TNA, NDC, etc.) and selected by the country’s NDA.

As he training module in Zambia will be implemented by UNEP DTU Partnership, the CTCN Consortium Partner, UNEP DTU is looking to hire a consultant to conduct training for developing these concept notes.

Consultant’s Qualifications (Criteria for Selecting the Consultant/s)

  • Preferably a postgraduate degree in a relevant area (Economics, Natural Science, Engineering)
  • General experience in one or more relevant areas of climate change, e.g. energy, water development, agriculture and forestry, environmental protection
  • Familiarity with Zambian climate change priorities through the national Climate Change Policy, INDC, TNA, etc.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing project proposals for funding by international donors
  • Knowledge and experience of the Green Climate Fund (desirable)
  • Strong communication, reporting and facilitation skills
  • Ability to report (verbally and in writing) in English

Working Arrangement 

The Consultant will be recruited on a part-time basis, with inputs equivalent to approximately 30 working days. He/she will be required to be available for the timely delivery of outputs relevant to the tasks over the duration of the project, as required by the Team Leader at UDP.
