CONSULTANCY OPPORTUNITIES
JSI Research & Training Institutes (JSI) implements the USAID DISCOVER-Health to support the Ministry of Health (MOH) in the provision of quality health services and products. The project’s aim is to improve the lives of Zambians by ensuring equitable access to and use of high-quality HIV, maternal new-born and child health (MNCH), family planning, and reproductive health (FP/RH) services and products at the district and community levels. The project utilizes and sustains a health model that maximizes the relative strengths of the public and private sectors to deliver health products and services that reach all beneficiaries and consumer markets. USAID DISCOVER-Health is also supporting MOH in the national COVID-19 response.
In a collaborative effort with the Ministry of Health, JSI USAID DISCOVER Health Project is recruiting for the following Consultancy positions to be based at University Teaching Hospital.

Position: Biomedical Technologist Consultant (x 3)
Location : UTH Virology Laboratory, Molecular Biology Section
Reports to : Scientist In-Charge
Duration : Six (6 ) Months
Conditions of Service:   GRZ – Ministry of Health

Responsibility:

  • Accessioning of COVID-19 samples
  • Performance of COVID-19 diagnostic assays
  • Inventory control of commodities used in testing of COVID-19 samples
  • Equipment management including preventive maintenance and calibration for instruments used in  testing for COVID 19
  • Management of any data generated in the COVID 19 laboratory
  • Any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor

Skills and other requirements

  • Diploma in Biomedical Sciences
  • Minimum work experience of three (3) years in a medical laboratory
  • Knowledge of relevant medical laboratory technical work and Experience in laboratory quality  management systems.
  • Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills
  • Computer proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Full registration with the Health Professions Council of Zambia and in possession of a valid practicing  license
  • Team Player
