Lubambe Copper Mine

Lubambe Copper Mine is located within the Greater Konkola Area of the Zambian Copperbelt and consists of a large – scale mining license covering an area of approximately 240 square kilometres. The mine is a modern, world class facility with fully mechanized underground operations.

Lubambe Copper Mines is owned by EMR Capital of Australia (80%) and ZCCM – Investments Holdings (20%).

The Mine is currently in a ramp up stage and will ultimately produce 45, 000 tonnes of contained copper and will employ approximately 1,500 people. The Plant infrastructure consists of a Concentrator plant, a laboratory and underground infrastructure. The Concentrator incorporates crushing, milling, flotation and filtration. The design capacity is 2.5 MTPA of ore at an average mill grade of 2.3% copper, yielding 45,000 tonnes of contained copper in concentrate to be sold to smelter in Zambia.

To support this vision, Lubambe Copper Mine seeks to employ experienced and qualified individuals in the  following position:

WINDER ENGINE DRIVER

This position reports to the Senior Winding Engine Driver.

Purpose of this position

To be responsible for operations of all Winders.

Key Performance Areas / Indicators (KPA/Is):

  • Examine and sign the driver’s log book and acknowledge by signature each uncancelled entry
  • Run the engine only at specified times
  • Avoid undue shocks when starting the engine
  • Running and sopping the engine
  • Observe and operate the winding engine only according to authorized signals
  • Total availability always from start of shifts unless there is a reason to leave and where another competent person is available.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor
  • Performing ore pulling operations from shaft bottom with kibble winder
  • Co-ordinating winding activities with total process requirements
  • Compiling accurate shift reports
  • Helping engineering employees to maintain equipment in the winder area
  • Report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the supervisor

Academic qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 certificate
  • Certificate of competency as a Winding Engine Driver
  • 3 years’ experience as a wind engine driver
  • Good working experience within the mining environment a must
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work within a demanding work environment independently and as part of the team
  • High work ethics
