Geophysics for the mining, hydrological and geotechnical engineering industry. The company operates throughout Africa, mostly Southern Africa where we have offices in Mozambique, Zambia and head office in South Africa.

The company collects geophysical data from drill holes which can used in models by geologists for mineral exploration and mining, engineers for dams, tunnels or mine design and hydrologists in groundwater studies.

VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT: Geophysical engineer/ technician

Wireline Pty Ltd seeks to recruit highly motivated and committed employees for the position of Geophysical engineer/ technician in a growing team. We are looking for individuals who are willing to learn, are honest, have a culture of safety and responsibility.

There are various possible opportunities available, from entry level & junior positions up to senior positions.

As this is a specialised industry, the successful candidate will go through rigorous on-site/field/classroom training.

Fluency in French beneficial.

Reporting to: Managing Engineer or Wireline supervisor

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conduct geophysical data acquisition operations to client specifications.
  • Maintain and calibration of all geophysical equipment to industry standard.
  • Vehicle maintenance
  • Conduct daily checks in compliance with mine SHE requirements
  • Compile and submit accurate monthly reports
  • Actively promote, monitor, and participate in safe working practices.
  • Identify risks in the work area and use of correct controls.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Certificate/ Diploma in Mining, Engineering, Geology or similar sciences
  • Must have Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a mining environment
  • Mechanical aptitude advantageous
  • Good Communication skills both written and verbal
  • Must have a Zambian Drivers License

Work Hours: Rotational work

Experience: Must be willing to work with your hands, happy to get dirty, maintenance work, in pit work and conduct remote work.

Remuneration: Dependent on level of qualification and experience
