Job Title: Supervising Social Worker

Report to: Executive Director

Purpose of the role: Facilitate the general welfare of all children under the sponsorship of Zamcog directed towards enhancing the emotional health and physical wellbeing among children in its care.  This includes but is not limited to, carrying out assessments, organising varying packages of support for the various programs, making recommendations or referrals to other services and agencies when needed, keeping detailed records and participating in multi-disciplinary team meetings.

You will also provide support and information and crucially use your HR skills in relationship work with the Zamcog house team through coaching, supporting and developing staff, including supervision, to maximise their performance and ensure that high standards of care, values, ethical standards, equality and diversity, policies and procedures, legislation and contractual and inspection framework requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities:

1.     Residence

  • Conducting interviews with individuals and families to assess and review their situations.
  • Enrolling children in the residential program using the vulnerability criteria.
  • Undertaking and writing up assessments which meet specified standards and timescales
  • Develop and review care plans for individual children, with participation from the child and their family where possible, helping students to define goals, plan action and gain insight in order to arrange the appropriate care and resources for the Zamcog sponsored students.
  • Monitor on-going care plan implementation in relation to a child’s needs, with special attention to identifying risk issues and communicating these issues to the guardians and Zamcog Director.
  • Liaising with relatives and making referrals to other agencies where necessary.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary teams and meetings regarding child protection and mental health.
  • Participating in regular team meetings with the residence manager, male and female patrons and Director
  • Ensuring the protection and safeguard the wellbeing of the young people in our care.
  • Arranging for age-appropriate program that will help build the students confidence and awareness of the world around them.
  • Assessing, counselling and offering advice to Zamcog sponsored students.
  • Providing care and support to the children and young people to encompass all physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual and social needs of our children and young people.
  • Preparing all monthly and quarterly reports in a timely and efficient manner.

2.     Primary And Secondary Education Support

  • Working along the administration team and offering support with the enrolment of vulnerable children into school after conducting all necessary assessments
  • Overseeing the admin teams periodic review of progress of all the Zamcog sponsored students and reporting to the director.
  • Assisting the Admin team to build relationships with the different schools regarding fees for the pupils and other educational needs.
  • Ensuring that the admin team are collecting all termly reports for all Zamcog sponsored pupils in school are collected via parents or online.
  • Preparing all monthly and quarterly reports in a timely and efficient manner.

3.     FURTHER EDUCATION

  • Assisting the Admin team ensuring all prospective further education students make their applications for sponsorship
  • Ensuring that all prospective students make right selections for their school
  • Assisting the Admin team ensuring that all further education students get their fees paid all other requirements for their school
  • Oversee the monitoring of progress of all further education students
  • Oversee the affairs of the Transition Houses
  • Assessing, counselling and offering advice to Zamcog Transition students.
  • Preparing all monthly and quarterly reports in a timely and efficient manner.

4.     FEEDING PROGRAMMES

  • Assisting the Feeding programme team to select the recipients of the food support based on vulnerability
  • Assist where needed to ensure that the program is running smoothly
  • Preparing all monthly and quarterly reports in a timely and efficient manner.

5.     HR SUPPORT

  • Coaching, supporting and developing staff, including supervision, to maximise their performance and ensure high standards of care
  • Identifying resourcing needs and the ongoing selection, training and development of staff to ensure service delivery is optimised and relevant standards are met.
  • Completing regular supervisions of staff to ensure all training and development needs are met
  • To be concerned for the welfare of the staff offering support at times of stress, praising work completed and monitoring performance including sickness absence.

6.     KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

General Education and Academic Qualifications:

  • Grade Twelve 12 Certificate or equivalent
  • Professional Qualifications:
  • Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Child Psychology, Psychology, Counselling and Guidance or any related discipline.
  • Relevant Job Experience: Minimum of 2-years work related experience
