Job Purpose
The purpose of an auto mechanic is to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicles to ensure they are safe, reliable, and perform optimally. They fix mechanical, electrical, and electronic problems, perform routine maintenance like oil changes, and replace worn-out parts to keep vehicles running smoothly.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
- Working with the workshop manager and other mechanics to diagnose and repair the mechanical and electrical components of vehicles
- Diagnose and make cost-effective repairs on vehicles
- Provide timely maintenance reports on vehicles
- Maintain vehicles by ordering parts, properly maintaining equipment, and conducting regular inspections
- Be responsible for securing, storing, and organizing parts
- Stock parts and supplies as needed
- Performing test drivers, inspections, and other diagnostic tests on vehicles to identify where problems exists and determine which parts need to be repaired or replaced.
- Maintain proper tools and equipment
- Completing preventative maintenance on vehicles, such as performing oil changes, flushing and replacing fluids, and replacing brakes.
- Generating timelines and estimates for repairs
- Inspecting internal systems and controls to ensure the vehicle is operating properly and in compliance with state regulations
- Maintaining accurate records relating to clients, their vehicles, parts, and service history.

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate or better in Motor Vehicle Technician/Automotive Mechanics from a recognized technical Institute/College
- Must have a minimum of 3+ practical work years experience as an Auto Mechanic
- Proven knowledge of cars, trucks, vans, and off-road vehicles
- Must have vast knowledge of automotive systems and their effect on vehicle operation
- Certification as a Mechanical Technician will be a plus
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair vehicles and follow safety instructions and directions.
- Must be reliable and honest with a clean employment record
- Knowledge of vehicle inspection and repair practices
- Must also be ready to relocate to Mazabuka if not a Mazabuka resident
- Must be a member of EIZ
