The LUSAKA APEX MEDICAL UNIVERSITY (LAMU) is a privately owned University, accredited by the Higher Education Authority under the Higher Education Amendment Act No. 23 of 2021 to provide Higher Education in Medical Education. LAMU is regulated by the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ), Nursing & Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ), Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA). Lusaka Apex Medical University is therefore looking for mature, proactive, highly motivated and result oriented Zambians with high degree of credibility to fill the following positions.
1. Information Communication Technology - Consultant
The institution seeks to engage an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Consultant for a period of six (6) months to strengthen, optimize, and support the organization’s ICT environment. The consultancy will cover strategic, technical, operational, and advisory functions across all key ICT domains.
I. Purpose of the Assignment
To provide expert guidance, hands-on technical support, and strategic direction in managing, improving, and securing the organization’s ICT infrastructure, systems, and services. The consultant will assess the current ICT environment and identify gaps.

The ICT Consultant will provide comprehensive support covering the following areas:

· Inception report with work plan (within first 2 weeks
· ICT systems and infrastructure assessment report
· ICT risk and security assessment report
· Updated ICT policies and standard operating procedures
· Network and systems documentation
· Disaster recovery and business continuity framework
· Monthly progress reports
· Capacity-building and training sessions
· Final consultancy report with recommendations and sustainability plan
· Development and maintenance of E-campus
IV. Reporting and Supervision
· The ICT Consultant will report to the designated supervisor and will work closely with the ICT unit and relevant departments.
V. Required Qualifications and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
· Master’s degree in in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
· Relevant professional certifications are desirable
· Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in ICT systems management and consulting.
· Demonstrated experience in infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems.

· Strategic ICT planning and advisory capability.
· Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
· Knowledge of cybersecurity standards and best practices.
· Experience in ICT policy development and implementation.
· Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
· Results management system.
VII. Confidentiality
The consultant shall maintain strict confidentiality of all institutional information, data, and systems accessed during the assignment.
VIII. Ownership of Work
All reports, systems documentation, and materials developed under this consultancy shall remain the property of the institution.
IX. Duration of Assignment
The consultancy will run for six (6) months from the date of contract signing.
2. Software/System Developer
To design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable web applications from concept to production using modern web development best practices and high-quality software applications that meet user and university requirements.
Key Responsibilities
· Analyse user requirements and translate them into functional technical specifications.
· Design, develop, test, and implement software applications using appropriate programming languages and tools.
· Maintain and enhance existing systems by identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary updates.
· Conduct code reviews, write unit tests, and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
· Build robust backend services, APIs, and data pipelines with Python (Django/Flask/FastAPI) and related libraries.
· Develop high-performance server-side applications and real-time features using Node.js, Express, and TypeScript/JavaScript
· Maintain and support institutional systems: Website, KOHA Library, DS pace.
· Build and customize CMS solutions (WordPress, Canvas LMS).
· Design, prototype, and test web/mobile applications.
· Troubleshoot and debug software issues and provide timely resolutions.
Required Qualifications and Experience
· Grade 12 certificate with credit in Mathematics and English
· Bachelor’s degree in software development, Computer Science, Information Technology, software engineering, or a related field
· All academic qualifications and results must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
· Strong knowledge of PHP, MySQL/PostgreSQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
· Familiarity with Linux CLI environments.
· Ability to develop websites from scratch.
· Experience with CMS platforms such as WordPress and Canvas LMS (plugin customization is a plus).
· Prior exposure to KOHA, D Space, or Moodle will be an advantage.
· At least 3-5 years’ experience
3. SENIOR COUNSELLOR
Job Purpose:
To plan, coordinate, administer and implements counselling services for students, members of staff and other authorized stakeholders of LAMU.
Key Responsibilities
· Plans, develops, implements counselling programmes to address the counselling requirements of students, faculty members and the University community at large.
· Participates in the preparation of departmental budget and work plans.
· Provides counselling services to students with regard to academic, personal issues, psycho-social and health challenges.
· Supervises subordinates to ensure that they perform to set standards and that clients receive the required quality of counselling services.
· Counsels and conducts sensitization talks, seminars and workshops to students and the University community on psycho-social problems and how to manage or cope with them.
· Apprises Management on the latest developments, research, approaches in the field of psycho-social counselling with the view to improving counselling services offered by the Unit.
· Initiates the formulation and review of policies and work manuals related to counselling services.
· Oversees the management of client records to ensure they are maintained with utmost confidentiality.
· Liaises with the Administration Department to organize transport, facilitate procurement of equipment and items required at the Psycho-social Centre.
· Manages the cost of psycho-social programmes and activities and ascertains their effectiveness.
· Prepares, periodical and ad hoc operational performance reports.
· Evaluates the overall performance of the Unit and/or the psycho-social Counselling Centre.
· Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualification and Experience
· Grade 12 Certificate with five credits including English, Mathematics, and Science
· Degree in Social work, Education, Psychology, Counselling, Sociology or relevant social Science
· Master’s in social work, Education, Psychology, Counselling, Sociology or relevant social Science
· Must be registered with the Zambia Counselling Council (ZCC) or Psychology Association of Zambia (PAZ) and possess a valid Practicing License.
· All academic qualifications must be certified and validated by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
· Demonstrated experience in Psychosocial Counselling and Crisis Intervention
· Five (5) years post Qualification experience
