Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) is one of the largest copper producers in Zambia. It operates underground and open pit mines as well as metallurgical plants with operations located at Nehanga, Konkola, Nkana and Nampundwe. KCM’s operations include a state-of-the-art smelter, open pit and underground mmes and a refinery. KCM’s vision is to leverage minerals and human resources to enhance stakeholder value and Zambia’s pride. To support this vision KCM runs an expansive corporate social responsibility under pinned on four (4) pillars – Education, Health, Sport and Sustainable Livelihoods. Under education, KCM runs the Kitwe Trade School which offers artisanal courses to brigde the skills gap in the mining industry.
Kitwe Trades School invites applications from eligible persons to undertake training in the following fields on a self sponsored basis commencing in January 2020:
Technician Programmes
Duration 2 years 6 months
1. Electrical
2. Heavy Equipment Repair
3. Process Instrumentation
Craft Programmes
Duration 2 years
1. Automotive Electrical
2. Electrical
3. Heavy Equipment Repair
4. Mechanical Fitting
5. Machining
6. Metal Fabrication
7. Process Instrumentation
8. Rigging
Please note that there are NO scholarships available.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
1. Technician Programmes
Direct Entry: Minimum Grade Twelve (12) with five credits or better which must include English, Mathematics and Science (Physics or Chemistry) and any other two subjects.
Mature Age Entry: A Craft Certificate in the relevant field from an accredited institution and a minimum of two (2) years working experience.
2. Craft Programmes
Direct Entry: Minimum Grade Twelve (12) with five passes or better which must include English, Mathematics and Science (Physics or Chemistry) and any other two subjects.
Mature Age Entry: A Trade Test Level 1 Certificate in the relevant field.
Female candidates are encouraged to apply.

Application forms may be obtained from the Vice Principal’s office at a non-refundable fee of K75.
Only applications on official Kitwe Trades School application forms will be considered.
