Reporting to: Maintenance Supervisor
Purpose of Job:
To install, maintain and repair pipes and fixtures associated with heating, cooling, water distribution, and sanitation systems at the Centre.
Main Responsibilities
- Read blueprints, technical documents and pipe/plumbing fixture plans to assess the needs of the Centre.
- Determine materials needed for each new assignment and estimate the time and cost involved.
- Install, assemble, maintain, and repair pipes and plumbing fixtures.
- Measure and modify pipes accordingly by cutting, threading, or bending pipes by using specialized tools.
- Install and/or repair appliances like dishwashers, water heaters, toilets, sinks, etc.
- Diagnose plumbing problems and resolve them.
- Repair or replace damaged parts.
- Locate and repair water line leaks and remove clogs.
- Confirm pipe system is air/watertight by performing pressure tests.
- Keep detailed notes and create work reports documenting particular work assignments.
- Test plumbing and other installed fixtures to ensure proper functioning.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- Craft Certificate in Plumbing from a recognised institution.
- Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
- Aminimum of two (2) years relevant work experience.
