Reporting to: Maintenance Supervisor

Purpose of Job:

To install, maintain and repair pipes and fixtures associated with heating, cooling, water distribution, and sanitation systems at the Centre.

Main Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints, technical documents and pipe/plumbing fixture plans to assess the needs of the Centre.
  • Determine materials needed for each new assignment and estimate the time and cost involved.
  • Install, assemble, maintain, and repair pipes and plumbing fixtures.
  • Measure and modify pipes accordingly by cutting, threading, or bending pipes by using specialized tools.
  • Install and/or repair appliances like dishwashers, water heaters, toilets, sinks, etc.
  • Diagnose plumbing problems and resolve them.
  • Repair or replace damaged parts.
  • Locate and repair water line leaks and remove clogs.
  • Confirm pipe system is air/watertight by performing pressure tests.
  • Keep detailed notes and create work reports documenting particular work assignments.
  • Test plumbing and other installed fixtures to ensure proper functioning.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Craft Certificate in Plumbing from a recognised institution.
  • Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
  • Aminimum of two (2) years relevant work experience.
