Chemonics International, a U.S.- based international development consulting firm, seeks a Chief of Party for the anticipated USAID/Zambia District Governance Strengthening activity. The activity will help Zambian citizens and their government service providers build a durable system that responds to local needs, supports stronger USAID results, and increases country ownership of national poverty reduction. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Qualifications:

  • A masters degree in relevant social or administrative science or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant senior-level professional experience required, with at least 5 years of experience in sub-Saharan Africa. Southern Africa experience preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing and supervising a team working on service provision, decentralization and local governance activities
  • Five years of experience of Chief of Party in decentralization or local government strengthening projects
  • Demonstrated experience in project management leadership, including human resources, procurement, subcontracts or sub-awards, and accounting/finance as well as monitoring, evaluating and learning, documenting project performance; evaluating subcontractor and grantee activities and providing overall guidance and direction
  • Demonstrated track record of provincial strengthening, reform and support with evidence of responsible managerial experience implementing complex donor-funded projects with multiple activities
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with government representatives and other stakeholders, particularly at the provincial or district level
  • Experience with donor-funded development projects of a similar scale and scope, USAID preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in training and facilitation
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Professional level of oral and written fluency in the English language required
