Production Machine Operator

In addition to our food processing our aim is to increase efficiencies in the soya value chain, and improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. We anticipate to build smallholder farmer capacity for thousands of targeted smallholder farmers in soya beans production, aggregation and marketing, of which 50% are women, by working on the grass-root levels to improve yields for these farmers.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Production Manager, Production Machine Operator be responsible for assisting the Production Manager in establishment of preventative and responsive Mechanical Maintenance and development within the process area and across the site, to ensure maximum operational performance is achieved in a safe and cost-effective manner while ensuring compliance with relevant procedures, polices, legal requirements and consent conditions. Duties will include but not limited to the following.

Key Responsibilities

1. Machine Operator will be responsible for maintaining, controlling & operating food production machines such as Soya Extruders, Hammer Mills and Oil Expellers etc.
2. Setup the production Equipment and ensures adequate raw and packaging materials for production use before executing the planned job orders.
3. Ensure that the incoming supply are conforming to standards as well as the outgoing
   products while operating the machine.
4. Responsible for production monitoring for machines.
5. Operators ensure that raw materials are never in shortage.
6. Responsible for maximum output from the production machinery.
7. Responsible to achieve given target with high efficiency in production area.
8. Responsible to maintain hygiene and cleanliness in production area.
9. Responsible for optimum utilization of man, machine and materials.
10. Responsible to handle manpower and should be able to take maximum output.
11. Reviews checklist or log sheet to ensure completeness and accuracy.
12. Ensure operation according to standard procedure and producing the products according to the quality standards and specification.
13. Ensures that Hygiene rules & GMP are strictly in place.
14. Operate equipment safely and effectively for production processing.
15. Ensure that equipment is maintained in good and safe working condition.
16. Inspect equipment to identify any replacements, malfunctions and repairs.
17. Provide help to junior operators in their assigned responsibilities.
18. Work under the guidance of Supervisor to perform and complete the assigned duties in timely manner.
19. Evaluate equipment performance and recommend improvements.
20. Recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
21. Contribute to waste management programs.
22. Identify and report unsafe operations to Supervisor immediately.
23. Assist in the maintenance of tooling and equipment.
24. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
25. Examining and discarding defective goods and packaging components.
26. Replenishing, Stocking and sorting the packaging supplies.
27. Maintaining a report of the total measure of goods manufactured per day.

Qualifications and Experience

1. Candidate must have Craft/Advanced Certificate in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Learning Institution.
2. Minimum 5 years work experience as Production Machine Operator is a must in Food Production/ Beverages/Manufacturing industry.
3. Candidate Should be physically fit.
4. Personally, demonstrate a positive attitude towards working safely.
