Digital Health Initiative (DHI) — Profile (in partnership with Advocacy for Teen Mothers’ Education and Empowerment)
Digital Health Initiative (DHI) is a collaborative health and technology-focused initiative designed to harness digital tools, platforms, and data-driven solutions to improve access to health information, services, and empowerment opportunities for vulnerable populations in Zambia. Although there is no widely published standalone entity formally titled Digital Health Initiative in Zambia, the term typically describes programmes or partnerships that:
- Support digital health solutions such as telemedicine, mobile health (mHealth) messaging, electronic health records (EHRs), or SMS/WhatsApp campaigns to strengthen health education, service delivery, and community health outcomes.
Promote inclusion and capacity building, particularly among underserved groups such as adolescents, women, and rural communities, by using digital platforms to expand access to critical information on sexual and reproductive health, mental health support, and educational resources.
Align with Zambia’s broader Digital Health Strategy (2022–2026), which emphasizes leveraging technology to enhance healthcare delivery, expand coverage of services like maternal, newborn, and adolescent care, and improve interoperability of digital systems across public health networks.
