LEGAL ASSISTANT

AB Bank Zambia is a member of AccessHolding. Access Holding is our main shareholder, located in Germany and operating a network of banks in Africa, Central Asia and Latin America. Our other shareholders are IFC (World Bank Group), KfW (the Development Bank of Germany) and FISEA (part of the French Development Agency).
AB Bank Zambia is currently undergoing a considerable enhancement of its brand image, as well as expanding the range of products and channels offered. In order to support us in this journey, we are currently recruiting a Legal Assistant to join our 420 staff members.

We are looking for a passionate individual who is ready to take up an exciting challenge in a faced paced environment of a growing bank, willing to meet deadlines and develop professionally in an international environment. In this position you will report to the Legal Officer and Company Secretary.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Drafting bespoke legal documents, contracts and perfection of securities
  • Filing documents at various legally established registries such as the Court Registries, the Lands and Deeds Registry, the Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA)
  • Conducting business related searches at various institutions
  • Updating the Bank’s Legal Library with latest laws and Government Gazette Notices
  • Maintaining a proper record of files and updating the Litigation Diary
  • Service or delivery of documents to clients and other relevant parties
  • Preparing written legal opinions for the company’s use Taking instructions on behalf of the Supervisor
  • Advising the Bank’s stake holders on general legal issues

If you have the following:

  • Knowledge of and experience with banking and financial services regulations
  • Good knowledge of the Companies Act and Company Secretarial issues
  • Good knowledge of Conveyancing
  • Good knowledge of Employment and Labor related matters
  • Strong communication skills
  • High level of initiative, self-organization and reliability
  • Ability and willingness to work under stressful conditions
  • Knowledge of and experience with banking and financial services regulations

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Law
  • A minimum of 1 years working experience with a law firm or in the banking sector.
