Finance Manager job description

We are looking to hire a dynamic Finance Manager with excellent organizational and analytical skills. The Finance Manager is expected to be detail-oriented, knowledgeable on statistics, have strong problem-solving skills, and an investigative nature.

To ensure success, the Finance Manager should have a deep commercial awareness, strong numeracy skills, and a keen interest in the growth, efficiency, and profitability of the organization. Top candidates will have outstanding communication and report writing skills with superb technical ability and fantastic negotiation skill.

Responsibilities

  • Perform financial management duties including generating financial data, compiling and submitting reports, analysing industry trends and assessing the financial health of the organization.
  • Oversee the operations and development of the organization’s finance departments including creating and reviewing policies, budgeting, recruiting, training and conducting regular assessments of financial procedures.
  • Advise colleagues and executive management on decisions related to the organization’s finances.
  • Supervise the documentation of the organization’s financial status and forecasts.
  • Plan and implement systems for financial operations in the organization in accordance with the finance manual and donor regulations; including systems for cash flow management, budgeting, consolidation of accounting information, internal controls, financial reporting, financial record-keeping, grant management and compliance.
  • Prepare monthly management reports to senior management and program staff as required, including expenditures by cost center/project and other financial information, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepare financial reports, for review by senior management, to donors in line with donor requirements and templates.
  • Assist in developing annual fiscal year budgets together with the Finance Officer and Admin Officer.
  • Continuously stay abreast with donor policies, procedures, rules and regulations; compile and update applicable local policies; train the organization staff in these policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by CITAMplus leadership

Requirements

  • Degree in Accountancy or equivalent.
  • Full professional qualification such as CA Zambia/CIMA/ ACCA.
  • Must be a registered member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
  • Minimum of three (5) years’ relevant post qualification experience, working in a busy finance and accounting environment.
  • Must possess practical skills in management and financial reporting.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Risk management skills.
  • Proven results-oriented attitude.
  • Very good understanding and experience of financial products and performance, including credit risk, dynamics of lending, saving and insurance would be beneficial
  • Experience using financial software
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Experience in Working with NGOs.
